just keep searching and if u do decide to go that route id lease the truck through a seperate company not the company u drive for once u sign the papers they pretty much own you to the point u cant afford to go home or do anything

Roehl has a lease purchase program. I have several friends that are in the program. My trainer was one too.
If you don't have a year of experience as an o/o then you have to be a company driver for them for 6 months. Then you can lease.
The guy that's over the dept. for our o/O's recommended me buy 3rd party such as a bank loan and buy a truck from a dealer for the fact of having a slightly lower payment.
If you don't have good credit then you can lease purchase, I believe its 2 truck payments as a down payment.
They also have a walk away lease program. But if you drive the truck for a year and decide you don't want to be a l/o anymore any damage to the truck they find will result in a charge to you.
One guy I know is working on his third truck. Simply because he does not want to pay the balloon payment at the end. Hes making good money and is wanting a new truck rather than buying the truck and trade it in at a dealer.
Their are people that have completed a lease deal. You just have to be smart with your money. Also stay away from the companies that will let you do a l/p program and then starve you toward the end of the lease so that they get the truck back. Their are a lot of them out there.
Just be smart about it as you basically signing a contract with that company.

I've thought about leasing, but I don't want to pay on a 2007 Columbia since its not the truck I want. If I decide to buy a truck then it will be one I plan on keeping for years to come.

Thanx for all the info.... How to truck drive 101 he talks about L/P programs and how we need to followthe company model there business plan to make it.. also how to get the trucks info like miles maybe some history on the truck... I think every newbie should check him out in youtube.

I would not do a lease purchase. If I were to consider it I would not make a decision until I had a list of all the costs associated with leasing and the average revenue information. You cannot make an informed decision without all the information.

You should understand the trucking industry before you jump into a lease purchase.
Be a successful company driver for a year and then consider it.

I start orientation with crst malone tommorrow as a lease operator. I will share there business plan as I learn it.

Why a L/P is NOT a good idea. You, the driver, have almost no control in running your "business". The truck company, on the other hand, has total control, including setting your weekly payment amount (try negotiating that), all deductions, all dispatching (try turning down too many loads), total control or who works on your truck, with 100% restrictions on any bling you can add to "your" truck. So, why would you want to partner up with a company that sells you the truck and does the bookeeping and dispatching ? Also consider payments made weekly, remember, there are 52 weeks in a year VS payments made monthly, like a car. Over the period of a year, you have made an extra 4 payments.
