Hi everybody. The business just isn't what it used to be for sure. Mileage rates down, detention rates down, number of loads per week down. Too many trucks pulling tanks.
I have not made $700 for a week of work since January. I told the owner of the truck I need a minimum of $1,000 a week regardless of amount of loads, he said no, so I quit. I'm making $700 a week at my old job doing mechanic work. Home every night living a normal life again. Y'all be good.

I got your pm's but I don't have enough posts to reply. Since my original post, I think it's fair to say that there has been considerable pull back in dry gas plays including the Marcellus.

Hey everybody! My friend friend in Dallas,TX bought an aluminum 1985 Fruehauf for $30,000. It needs work, tires, etc. I have a steel 1971 Fruehauf and somebody offered me $20,000 and never even saw it yet. Crazy thing is I could have bought these for $5,000 max 3 years ago. Happy shopping!

forum boards thwart me speaking with the brutal facts but in simplified so that you do not have to read between the lines we can expect the fundamental basis of the strategy you should throw around in your mind to be that of Niel Stone - whom I met and had one or two production briefs - at which he spoke of as did others I have seen after they did something like what you are attempting to bring to meeting to just "go rent a tractor and hire a few hands + pay them decent and pay them on Friday & avoid all the extensive legalasitics" ~ note I did not say not to run legally, what I want to get across is as soon as someone working in the comfy of an office can send dunnage for $ then they do so rather promptly and in the Blazing Saddles that ride through the Hope of Glory like Gloria Trevi climbing a P.A. stack......
I actually got a bill for 50-60,000 in taxes ~ I had a few hopes and a few reams of paper plus enough to mail about 1,000 direct mail -- the commercial direct mail went to minor shock at my response rate 1,000-X better than direct mail industry standards.....
I sit here with not much to show for it.
The others spent big-bucko's and have lots of Chapter 7-11-13 Filings to show for it, thus I came in better so nice guys finish last & the others were finished long ago.
Short version is we do not know today whether the O-Bomb will continue to kill birds with windmills but we do know if lefties stay in power you can run the trucks for 4-5 years so it is Accounting 445 ~ Depreciation, Capitalization and where are you going to find the drivers -
I have been working on finding work, what it seems to be is crying for drivers and finding the field-offices, the central office does not seem to have needed interest in "getting it there" and as well running a truck for 6-9 months or a year then having things slow down if socially-liberal get put away then where do one sell the trucks,...but for what it is worth if you are willing to do the effort you can find the companies on Manta + get some of the "decision-power" contacts or get a chance of getting you sheet in front of them
