If you could give only one tip to a soon-to-be employee of Schneider, what would it be? It could be about orientation, trucking in general, trainers... anything really. I'm all ears!
I'm slated to do orientation on April 17th in Green Bay.
Thanks!
(of course, more than one tip would be cool, too)

practice backing, and always look ahead several cars to anticipate problems. Watch the mirrors.... And don't let stuff bother you, eat healthy and chew your food plenty. i know that's more than one so take you pick

Be courteous and aware of others around you. Maybe it'll catch on there.

Um, My suggestion would be to send me your phone number and we can discuss it over dinner.

The breakfast at orientation is eggs, hash browns, and cheap toast. If you ask the person though, you CAN order other stuff. Frankly, a week of nothing but that for breakfast gets boring.
Ask your instructors lots of questions. Jack was my instructor (In Green Bay), he did a great job and had lots of patience. One of the other drivers was having lots of trouble shifting and Jack pulled him aside for 10 minutes. After that he shifted like a completely different person.
Each instructor has their own experiences, so don't be afraid to ask the same question to multiple instructors.Female Driver Thanks this. -
Thanks everybody... even Colorato who gave me a chuckle, and Buscuit75 who gave me a bump in my self esteem

Also, I wish this Jack would come to my CDL school and help me with my downshifting. Although, I am pretty sure I know my problem (I don't slow down fast enough to give myself time to go down through the gears), and will be fixing them tomorrow.
