You can break up the 10 hour rule by taken the split sleeper birth. However I don't recomend it unless your a math wiz or have electronic logs to keep track of driving time. However I do sujest that when you take your 10hr sleep break you log 1 houroff duty at the begining and 1 hour off duty at then. 2 hours off duty and 8 hours in sleeper. In Washington State DOT is now saying if you ate took a shower or anything other than sleep you can't log it as in the sleeper and have writing tickets for it. B.S. I know but what can you do?

Nope. The 10 hour period is a break period. You can log it all of duty if you want. The only thing stopping you would be company policy. A 10 hour break resets both the 11 and 14 hour clocks.

Alright. That's what i thought. Our policy is we can only have one hour off duty. But I told them I was doing laundry, and watching TV in the drivers lounge with the truck in my sight the whole time. They didn't have a problem with that. I just wanted to make sure i wasn't doing anything wrong.

ii) Specific requirements. The following rules apply in determining compliance with paragraph (g)(1)(i) of this section:
    (A) The term "equivalent of at least 10 consecutive hours off duty" means a period of (1) At least 8 but less than 10 consecutive hours in a sleeper berth, and
    (2) A separate period of at least 2 but less than 10 consecutive hours either in the sleeper berth or off duty, or any combination thereof.
8 consecutive in the sleeper. What you did would not qualify as a ten hour break to restart your 14.

This is for split breaking. The rules actually state above that
    (A)Must before driving.accumulate
(1)At least 10consecutive hours off duty
(2)At least 10 consecutive hours of sleeper-berth time
(3)A combination of consecutive sleeper-berth and off duty-time
amounting to at least 10 hours.
He done the break legal according to the "Green Bible" it may have been against his company policy though. My company doesn't allow split-breaks.

How the heck would the government employees know what you were doing during that time? If you log sleep time but watched a movie at a truck stop...? Are they out there with their binoculars?

Split birth was eliminated in 2003, regardless of Elogs the only place it is still legal that I know is Canuckistan. As for the little green book what was the copy write date on your copy.

Paid informants lot lizards are actually DOT spies, the guy at the fuel desk ever looked right into his eyes they cry out I am getting paid to keep an eye on you. All those military satilites well they are watching you too. Be careful be very careful. :biggrin_2559:
