    Hi all,

Just bought my 1st truck and I am leasing on with a company monday. But I have one quesion. Do I need anything special to run in California?

I have always ran nearly new trucks with the "Clean Idle" sticker but I have NEVER ran in California. I am not really wanting to go into Cali but im like everyone else, money talks. My truck is a 2007 International 9400I. It does not have a "Clean Idle" sticker on the hood and the cummings motor is PRE EGR.

Any help you guys could give would be greatly appreciated.
I checked a Cali website but it might as well have been written in German, cuz I was more confused after reading it than before.

    Thanks and God bless,
    Daniel

You can run in Cali with your rig...You just can't run the port loads....

    You're good until 2014 otherwise...

In Cali you stay in the two outside lanes on a 4 lane freeway....Don't ride the Hammer Lane lest DOT nails you....

Speed limit for big trucks is 55...But you can run 60 and not get hassled...

In Cali...Cal-Trans will make trucks throw iron on Donner even if the threat of the white Sheyat is in the forecast....Other grades like Grapevine and Cajon..They'll either escort or "shut it down"...Because of the SO-CAL 4-Wheelers can't handle snow let alone, a few drops of rain on the ribbon...

if money talks, why bother with cali, rates are dirt cheap coming out. you can make more overall staying out.

how did a 2007 end up with a pre-egr engine ? i guess it was replaced?

I have bought a 2007 International 9400I, and am having trouble figuring it out. don't they have an owners manual for this truck? It has the ICON system and if you idle for 5 minutes the motor will shut off. the problem is that when the motor is off, none of the interior lighting works and the 12 volt lighter outlets are dead. I don't know what to do about this, but will be hooking a 12 volt outlet direct to the battery. I need to keep my XM radio on when I am sitting, also need the interior lighting on. does anyone know the answer? I asked the International dealer and they won't tell me much

For 3 trucks or less, CARB implementation rules go by the engine year, for you, 2006. As stated above, your engine is good (not including ports or railheads) until Jan 1, 2014. For a company with 4 or more trucks, they had to elect the phase in by a percentage of new trucks per year or the model year method. If the company you are leasing on with has more than 3 trucks, you need to find out what adoption method they registered with CARB. You will be running under their DOT & MC so that is what will get checked for compliance.

One thing to know for anyone coming to CA, CARB does NOT receive state funding. They get ALL their funding through citations so you know what that means...

The rates leaving CA are good. It's the rates coming back that stink because everyone here runs cheap to get back to the loads leaving. If you can get good rates coming to CA, take um because you can get good rates leaving to good lanes and great rates going to crappy lanes.

start the truck, turn cruise control on, the icon light will be flashing fast, push clutch pedal in and put trans in gear then back to neutral and let out on the clutch, the icon light will now be blinking slowly. go into bunk turn on the icon control box, then scroll through and set your temp, turn a/c or heat on, etc. this is the process for a normally operating icon system, if something is wrong with the system it will not set. there also should be some fuses behind the glovebox labeled icon if you want to disable it. if the fuses are missing from the fuse box labeled icon, then some have a fuse link behind the fuseblock so as not easily accessible to drivers. there are 2 fuses for icon, when you find them, pull 1, if the truck will not start, put that fuse back and pull the other, icon will be disabled and truck will idle till it runs out of fuel! hope this helps.

Don't know this specific truck but every truck I have ever been in has a voltage cutoff that when the batteries get low it will not allow you to use the lights, cig lighter, etc. Now this may be something funky with this truck and you need to change something. But if not, you need to replace batteries. Going straight to the batteries will by pass the safety and you will be left without the juice to start the truck.

Again, this may be something specific to your truck and all this has been turned off some how. But don't go straight to the batteries.
