First I want to express my condolences to Dice and his family.

Now as far as the installation, all the Cat engines we have done over the last 4 years the ECO #5 is installed on the outlet side of the Filter. It goes after the filter and primer on the line that goes to the injection rail. The photos I have received from Dices truck only show one line to the filter. The primer has been changed and if it has been changed as per the you tube video then I am to assume that is the feed line now to the engines rail.
Now as for the mileage We know that the ECO Unit will not cause any engine to loose mileage. If the ECO did not work the mileage would remain the same as before. There is nothing in the unit to cause an engine to consume more fuel than before.
Dices 3 previous dedicated runs by his photos show:
    1st run 9.65
    2nd run 9.21
    3rd run 9.28
    His IFTA Report is 9.16
Now with the ECO he is at 9.12 which is considerably less than his first run.
This can be achieved by running into strong head winds, or idleing longer in traffic or stationary, or by running faster than before.
Now if we are going to compare IFTA reports lets run for April, May and June, and compare the IFTA report, as Big Bad Bill did and show how much savings that is. Tests have to be Apples to Apples.
Idleing and speed and wind conditions are the 3 things none of us will have pictures to prove testing conditions.

In my observation of the pictures, it appears there could be restrictions in the fuel line where the lines enter and exit the unit, as there are very sharp bends there. The unit is definitely mounted before the fuel filter.

Tell me how to install it differently because it is in the fuel line out of the fuel filter to the motor?????

I want to make sure this test is done correctly and Ben confirmed from my pictures it is correct.

The primer pump being removed has not changed the direction fuel, it has only allowed for the fuel to flow with less restriction without going thru fine screen thru small holes in the pump. The cap that replaced the primer pumps holes were opened up larger and polished to let fuel move thru freely without restriction. It would only help the fuel going to EcoTaz.

Even dedicated runs can vary as much 6/10ths to 7/10ths mpg due to traffic and weather. The 9.65 mpg run was about a perfect run as I can get because it seemed like every light was green, traffic was light, no backups and I probably did not stop as much with very long driving periods. We have had a mild winter in my area this year with warmer than usual winter that may have allowed my averages to be pretty consisitant around the 9.2 mark and the first run with EcoTaz being 9.12 mpg is pretty typical if you compare to my runs for the first 3 months of the year. I did have a little bit of rainy weather on the return leg that may have prevented the run from being 9.2 or 9.3, but it was pretty much a typical dedicated run when compared to other dedicated runs over the 1st quarter.

As far as speed goes, I did not nor plan on driving any faster or even slower because 57 mph is slow enough in a 70 mph speed zone. I really want to see this device work honestly and will give it every honest effort to make sure apples for apples comaprision is done because like everybody else who has an EcoTaz, I do want better fuel mileage and $340 is cheap ROI for a gain.

Even if the next run is 9.4 mpg, it would still be considered a typical run with no gain because when you put the two together it would be right with my averages and that is why it would be hard to compare just one run as gospel and we need to wait till we have 30 days of averages before we can conclude anything to compare with.

Maybe Rollin Coal is right that I have it installed wrong and hopefully tell me how to correct it because I am not feeling any difference in performance and idling changes like others have posted here?

I am going to clean my Fleet Air Filter today to see if that will bring mileage up a little because it is due and has not been cleaned since the first of January. i want everything to be as close as possible for this test to compare including a clean air filter.

Ben, please double check the photo of fuel line off of fuel filter to insure I have installed correctly?

The line coming out of the fuel filter is where installed the EcoTaz Eco-5 here....

With it installed as a loop that just comes back around into fuel line right beside where it comes out of fuel filter as instructed....

The inlet to filter comes in behind dipstick in pictures and is why you don't see it. You can barely see the fitting for the inlet line beside the cap in the top picture without EcoTaz.

Ok the top picture helped. You've got it installed right if it's coming from the output side of the filter housing and going right to the injectors. Your filter housing seems like it is bassackwards what mine is. Sorry about the confusion.

    Dice1 Thanks this.

    Thank you!

I had my shop verify it as well with the same pictures e-mailed.

You removed that primer pump yet? If you have the FASS or Air Dog pumps you didn't need a primer pump on filter and they do smooth the idle out that may be why the EcoTaz did not affect my idle because it was already smooth.

Note: I still have the primer pump in a zip loc bag on truck in the freak case I need motor primed and the FASS stopped working.

No I haven't. I just never use it and think it is pointless for it to even be on there. Are you saying an Airdog or Fass would be necessary if I did take the primer pump off of it? Actually been wanting to install an Airdog for quiet some time now. Planned on routing my fuel through a transmission cooler at the same time. Will likely route it through a cooler just ahead of the Eco device.. When I get time for this project . Will definitely remover primer pump when i get the Airdog on..

No, but the FASS or Air Dog pumps will prime motor by turning the key on before cranking. You can even hear the motor running until it is primed, it grunts down and the fuel pressure gauge goes up.

They are also good for emergency filter changes that you can re-prime with installing a dry fuel filter.

The FASS like the Air Dog that I believe is the same thing having a 3 micron fuel filter on them and also remove the air bubbles that will eliminate injector wear problems and are worth it for that reason alone to have one.

Do you have temp gun on truck to check fuel temps in tank after a hard run? I love my temp gun and it is the most used tool on my truck. Since the MicroBlue project I have been using temp gun for checking tires to hubs to exhaust manifold. Great tool to have on truck.

Sorry about getting off the subject. Back to EcoTaz testing.
