    As a sidenote, it's not just age related...even the youngins can fall prey to strokes...that scares me.

    Stroke killed my uncle at age 43. Non-smoker, non-drinker, proper weight for his height.

    What I meant was that you can still communicate , I have relative that had a stroke and it is 2 blinks for yes 3 for no as a means of communicating.

    Depends what part of the brain is affected by the incident. But there are no pleasant scenarios, only the lesser of the evils.

    You're a young guy (I think we're the same age), so you'll do well. See to that!

    There is no denying that I was very lucky, not only in making it the 300 miles back home, but also for retaining the abilities that I do have. Things could indeed have been much worse. guardian angel, power or prayer, or just plain dumb luck was on my side, and for that I am eternally grateful
