Ha! You wanna see the states come to a halt quick? Tell some good ol boy trucker he's gotta trade in his diesel burning Pete for a plug in truck. One of 2 things will happen, either the industry will get flooded by a bunch of dirty tree huggin hippies or basically you'll wanna move somewhere where there's a lot of farmland so you can get your grocerys locally. Just sayin...and I'm not the good ol boy either I get #### all the time cause I'm from the land of fruits and nuts, but seriously the general public has no idea how EVERYTHING they buy gets to the store they buy it from.

Tell you what.....Let's get about 200,000 Truckers altogether to fix what's wrong with the industry....But first...We need to get a Slogan....And everybody has to agree on that slogan.....:biggrin_25515:

I'm with ya, if all 200,000 could agree on a slogan then we could make anything happen. I know it'll never happen but if ,by some crazy act of God or aligning of the planets, we could get every truck driver in the states to take one day off in the middle of a week at the same time maybe, just maybe the law makers might rethink things because neither the pen to sign the law or the paper the law was printed on will be there.

You could get every driver to take the same day off...But look around TTR...How many drivers can agree what brand of truck is best?
Hell...You can't even get two drivers to agree on a fair price for a cup of coffee....

Let's bend it some more. Okay here you go, all are required to take random drug tests to make sure they are clean... Oops, they already do that...

Very true...everyone's got different ideas and theories on what works. I'm not saying that mine are better than anyone else's, TTR just gives drivers a place to vent some frustration to people who understand. Not like Facebook :)

It's not that way anymore... many are now contracted out. Shifts are now long and stressful. (my son does it)

As for what truck is the best, that's easily answered

You drive a Freightliner or a Volvo because your company makes you.
You drive a Pete or KW because you WANT to.

I guess my point is that I don't see the rigid HOS rules helping. In fact, I've driven when tired just because I had started my hours and needed to cover ground for the day.

I also think the coked out, speed freak, tweekers of the past are just that, in the past. I would have no problem with use of biometric technology that would test for drug use prior to allowing the specific individuals truck to start... The technology is here, and could be used if the public feared this so much.

With this said, I've seen no direct evidence that HOS rules have improved safety. None, zero...

100 air mile working 5 days a week. HOS is pointless.
