Make container haulers turn in substandard equipment by enforcing an existing reg. Nope.

The HOS exists because as evidenced by your testimony people will drive beyond their threshold, it would happen more so without limits.Should Doctors be limited? I do not know and do not care. See I can look at a Doctor I seek treatment from and decide if he seems inside his faculties. I have no such option when people like you enter the public roadway.

 

I still don't see where the Current HOS helps Fatigue! This stuff of getting everything done in a 14 hour window ticks me off. It makes me more tired to have to stay working for 14 hours straight. I would rather it be you can have 14 hours of work and 11 hours to drive in a 24 hour period. giving you 10 hours each day to still be off duty, but allowing you to get rest at more times during the day. Don't give me this crapp that I can still take time to nap in the 14 hours, because the pay trucking gets, it takes all 14 hours to make the money! so in my opinion, the HOS is more dangerous than the Doctor not having one!

 

I got in a 45-50 vanbody used from freight fleet, had to keep engine idled up a little is stopped for several minutes to keep the yellow knob from activating, I think and almost sure I had a C.D.L. at the time but no one checked. Hauled elephants or equipment. Would breeze through state-boundary as a greaser had been there already. Today's world puts near-idiots too close to me and so looking for someone farther back on "the way we do it" and put up with the problems as I do not wish to be instructed by someone who has not had to take some knocks to learn.

 

Let's bend it some more, soon - due to O-Bomb insurance profitability - drivers will be required to wear chartruse visibility vests for the hour prior to arriving at work to get used to having it on, profits from sales of vest will be earmarked for D.C. Limousine service to $100-a-plate breakfast consisting of no-carb "food"

 

I have never seen any evidence that the hos makes us safer than not having them. I would love to see a study where one group abides by the hos and the other doesn't use the hos. I doubt that you would see any significant difference in the accident rates.
