When you can show the breakdown of which engines are being fined and show that the maxxforce 15 is the one causing problems then you can blame cat, being that is the only one they truly have a hand in.

Also, cat has the ability to meet the requirements, look how close their industrial engines are, this can be hung solely on navistar. The numbers above prove why cat has no interest in playing a major role in the truck market ever again.

Same engines! They're making thousands each day, just decided not to deal with the truck market.
I can't imagine why the other companies want to either. If Cummins and Detroit said screw it too the blow back on the EPA would be amazing.

Where do I sign? I'm all for clean air and water but this is BS. When fuel mileage is in the toilet and trucks are in the shop monthly this needs to change. A friend of mine is a Detroit factory employed mechanic who is placed in a US Express shop. He said he would usually roll in bearings or replace a piston or two but now his job is emissions junk repair. He said they go through DPF's weekly, the stuff is total junk. And it's not limited to Detroit, they have Cat and Cummins powered trucks and they're all the same. This is why after someone deletes all the EPA junk they're left with a good strong reliable engine.

Well you should care because your livelihood is tied to what the EPA decides to implement no matter how much we all dislike them.

I personally do care....I sell them. The CARB letter only addressed the MF13 engine, the other engines are not part of it. Navistar has submitted an engine for .2 certification since the article you referenced was written. Once an engine is submitted for certification, the EPA will not penalize the submitting company if credits expire before the certification process is complete. In that case, credit extensions will be issued to insure EPA compliance. So it is basically a non issue at this point.
