New to trucking... Is this legal???
I drive 5 hours
Partner drives 4 hours
I drive 4 hours
Partner drives 5 hours
We both sleep 6 hours
We don't break the 14 hour rule
We both get 10 hours consecutive sleep
Looks legal to me, I just want to know for sure before DOT reminds me.

I think he did read them, neither one would be on duty driving past 14 hours from the start of their duty cycle, but the truck would only move 18 hours out of 24. It would reduce the amount of driving a team could do in 24 hours, which would probably upset people at the company.
rmac Thanks this. -
With your scenario, you're not getting 10 hrs consecutive sleep. You drive 5, sleep 4, drive more, then get 6 hrs sleep. You need 10 off, un-interrupted. Teams gotta do 10, or do 8 ea.then park it.

We are running for a guy that has 4 trucks and drives himself. He is very good to work for and as long as good money is comming in, he is ok. I am working on getting my license, (have my permit), and when I get it I will go solo shortly there after.
I appreciate the feedback...Every little bit helps. -
If driver two stops at 10pm and the truck stops for the nite,(6 hours),
driver one starts at 4am and drives till 9am.
Driver two is off from 10pm till 9am...= 11 hours off straight.
Driver one is off from 5pm till 4am... = 11 hours straight. -
2 hours in passenger side 8 in sleeper and 1 to spare. -
no, look at it again, each one does get a 10, but its a waste of truck time, as a team you really want to keep the truck going as much as you can.rmac Thanks this.
