Amp wanted for a Uniden PC68LTW

    So, I appreciate all the help regarding the amp questions however today I purchased a Texas Star, having heard only good things about this brand. My local CB shop (DTB Radio in Carlisle, PA) was offering a used one and I couldn't pass up the opportunity. I have a question, though, regarding the amp's use. Here's a pic first

    My question is; When I want to use the amp to broadcast using the standard 40 cb channels, do I have the AM button pushed in or is the AM button reserved for another frequency set (SSB, etc.)? I realize this may sound like a stupid question but I'd rather play it safe and not screw up and burn out my amp or radio.

    That is a modulator, not a linear.

    Will this still increase my output power by the claimed "100w" or do I need to return this...?

    You will need to have your radio properly matched by someone who knows what they are doing to get the most of out it. The radio needs to have a low dead key and still retain good swing to make this modulator work correctly.

    Tell dave to set your uniden for 2w carrier output.
    The button for "AM" is like a hi/lo button power wise. In is low out is high.
    Dave may tell you the amp will work fine with the radio as it is. He's right to a point... BUT... it will work better, sound better, last longer with the radio set to 2w.

    A little modulation modification would be nice too........as long as you know how to work a mic gain.
