We always did the same thing when we hauled redwood/cedar and other weird specialized wood products. They would cringe when they heard the straps crush it but our standard reply was "you should see how bad it's damaged when it falls off the truck!"

Had an agent call me today with another lumber load. It paid REALLY well and was "antique wood". I could only shine the delicate hands they would want hauling that crap. Plus it needs tarped, so I passed.

Hott Rodd Thanks this.

the kubota wood crates are terrible...you crush them and there is no securement...only way i found is to put straps right on each corner and tighten till the wood starts to pop

An after shot of some sacks about to be taken off my trailer.TDriver4Life Thanks this. -
Those things suck! Dont like bags of anything
-
They're not terrible, it still takes me a LONG time to get them secured and tarped (1 1/2 to 2 hours with weigh time included) but it takes 2 tarps, 4 foot drops + a smoke tarp in the back because the 4 foot's aren't long enough.
I pre-loaded some today for another driver but I was in a hell of a hurry and didn't get to take any pics. -
My buddy has hauled those out of York Pa. Cant remember if Ive ever hauled um, but I heard him the whole time lol I dont like anything I cant tighten the ##% out of.

At least they don't chew on your tarps.
