How many cases were there, and how did it break down? It takes awhile to sort that stuff so it can be counted, even when the dock workers are working hard and efficiently. Current load... 5122 cases on 51 pallets. I suspect it'll take awhile to get this one off. Legal mexicans, union white-guys, or mechano-roboto workers. -
But I find it amazing, I have taken hershey candy loads to Mclane in California many times. At first it was 10 to 12 hours to get unloaded sorted and checked in. so 8 to 10 hours of detention pay, and $550 to unload.
Then Hershey got tired of paying the detention and the lumper fees... so the last time there, 2 hours for the same load of candy... Lumpers get fined the detention rate if they take over 2 hours to unload. And I watched as the checker was checking the load in as it was sorted. Scan, beep, tag, done. It can be done, just takes organization, and the wiliness to do the job.ironpony Thanks this. -

cool to hear that Hershey fixed your problems.
my vote for the worst is albertsons and americold -
I would have to say krasdale foods is the worst at hunts point, Bronx, ny. We hate going there and will not unload your truck unless you pay for the lumper. They give my company a hard time since we never pay them and they the driver to do it. My company finally got fed up and now tells them they will not deliver the freight and all we got to do is drop it off, no more waiting for two hours.

Petsmart is on my ####list. Had a 0530 appointment this morning in Oakgrove, OH that I drove all night to make from Virginia where I picked up and when I got there at 0515, I found out that I needed a confirmation number. Never having been to Petsmart, I didnt know I needed one. I pull off the property and call my dispatcher Melissa. Keep in mind its 0330 in El Paso. I inform her that they won't take me because I dont have a confirmation number. She wasnt given one by the broker so she called them, but only got their voicemail. She called and talked to somebody in the receiving office at Petsmart and got the green light for me to be unloaded. I was given a dock door and I backed in at 0615. 0715 rolls around, then 0730, on and on and I get a call from Melissa about 0900. I tell her I've been docked since 0615 and nothing has happened.
She calls Petsmart and talks to somebody else in receiving who responds by saying "We don't unload without a confirmation number." Melissa retorted that she already spoke to a supervisor who said that they would receive the product, our truck is already in a dock, so if your not going to unload us, why would you give us a dock? In the meantime, she got ahold of the broker who found the confirmation number (not sure why the PO numbers on the bills didn't show anything). After going back and forth with Petsmart and the broker, they agreed to finally unload me.
Around 1000 they throw the docklock on and I was unloaded in 30 minutes. I pull around to the guard shack only to wait another 15 minutes because somebody "misplaced" my paperwork. -
Not sure if they were mentioned. didnt feel like reading through 59 pages of posts but Niagra Water Stockton,Ca is ridiculous!

Gillet up somehwere in CT. They here not bad as far as having to wait. it was a D and H pick up. But I had to sign up for a security badge, and log into this security system, just to pick up a trailer there.
I did 30 mins of setting up this account with security just to do a 5 min drop and hook. Is stuff like that really nessecary? -
