Or maybe that was just an exception to the norm, I don't know. I drove my self up to Green Bay and they reimbursed me for fuel. The guys that took a bus went back in rental cars. Depends on the OC apparently.

I took a bus to orientation. Then after orientation I couldn't get ahold of my dbl (weekend), and didnt want to stick around in a hotel for a couple days so I flew home and then was reimbursed for the flight because it wasn't much more then a bus ticket.
-
it depends on if there is an airport near where the driver lives. Thats usually the rental turn in point. If there isnt an airport , the take the bus.

curious about how much clothing to bring since you go out with trainer after orientation
-
You go home before you head out with a trainer. I went home for 4 days before meeting up with the trainer at Gary. Just worry about packing enough for the week you're going to orientation, and don't worry about tools or anything like that other than what they say you should bring. You might want to confirm with the recruiter though in case they decide to send you out directly from orientation, but I highly doubt they'll do that.

Not so much any more. It depends on the TE and their schedule but some new drivers are out on the road on Sunday (day after orientation). I would take enough clean clothes or plan on doing laundry along the way.

Might be because I'm out of Gary but they sent us to GB. They did seem backed up at the time so maybe I'm wrong.

I went out with a trainer on the last day of orientation. Some guys had to wait a day or two for there trainer to pick them up. I don't think anyone went home before going out except maybe one of the local guys who lived near by. I did orientation in Fontana

you'll also be able to do laundry at orientation before you go out. So the weeks worth soemone else mentioned should set you up well.

Just finished orientation thursday in Gary,In.Like others stated SAFETY!!first and formost. The road test wasn't difficult they mainly want make sure you can drive and do a button-hook right turn. They have a indepth way of doing a hook-up.But everyone is real nice and informative. The e-logs and workflow is what i'm concerned with.I'm old school(19 years OTR) all I"ve done is paper logs. But I sure I'll get the hang of things.Good luck!!
