Does anyone know if you have to be at prime a certain amount of time before they will let you take leave for a baby birth?

I imagine it would be around the time when the seat won't go back far enough for you to fit behind the wheel...:biggrin_25522:

http://www.dol.gov/dol/topic/benefits-leave/fmla.htm here is the information you are looking for.

And here is the section you aren't going to like:

"Employees are eligible for leave if they have worked for their employer at least 12 months, at least 1,250 hours over the past 12 months, and work at a location where the company employs 50 or more employees within 75 miles. Whether an employee has worked the minimum 1,250 hours of service is determined according to FLSA principles for determining compensable hours or work."

For the most part, its been my experience that Prime is fairly liberal about family events - births, deaths, etc. On the company side, its something that your husband will have to work out with his FM - and that is the crux of it. I know folks who will be very helpful in this, and others not so. I'd say that taking a week off for a birth isn't a problem. If we're talking 2 or 3 weeks, then that might be different - up to the point of having to turn in your truck then going back to Springfield/Pittston/SLC to get another one.

For a lease operator, the situation is completely different. You'd be able to take off as much time as you like, but the truck payments would not be suspended.

Questions he should of asked before committing to a training plan knowing the baby was due in six weeks.

Let me guess, he either hasn't told them yet or he told them after arriving.

If this is the case and seeing how he just embarked on 30k miles of training... I'd say you've put Prime in the position of saying yes rather than looking like a bad guy.

If he takes more than 4 days, I wouldn't be surprised if they tack on some more training miles. Theyve got a bug about continuity and consistency.

Not to fret too much, but people need jobs, more now than conveniently 6weeks from now.

If he gets a good trainer/instructor he should be able to work it with the instructor. That would be the best course of action.

Depends on the trainer and FM. A buddy of mine took a week off no problem.
