Hey everyone, I've posted a few other threads regarding training for Prime and a few other topics but I have made up my mind and decided to attend Prime. I want to use this thread to update everyone about my first hand experience with the company from training to company driver.
I am currently 21 years old and i'm a senior in college here in California. I'll be graduating on May 19th with my bachelors degree in Criminology with an emphasis in Law Enforcement. I've always wanted to be a cop and that still is my long term goal but with the economy being the way it is right now i'm not willing to spend $8,000 to go through an academy and risk not being hired after.
My dad owned a trucking company out of Santa Maria, Ca. For 15 years or so pulling reefers throughout the state so I used to ride along with him and help out where I could. So, I've always had trucking in the back of my mind as something to do and I figured that being single with no kids, there's no better time than the present.
So I applied at Prime and spoke with Don Bell, a recruiter. Real nice guy and i'd definitely recommend talking to him if you apply through prime. My driving record is clean, only 2 tickets and they were correctable violations (window tint, loud exhaust) and no accidents. So I bought my plane ticket today from LAX to Springfield Missouri, I'll be attending the May 22nd orientation. So If anyone else will be there at that time let me know and I will keep this updated throughout school and training as much as I can. If anyone has any questions about prime's starting pay and training and what not i'll do my best to answer.

Quick question, will prime reimburse me any of my travel expenses to get there? Too late to call recruiter today and ask him, but the flight cost $200 which is actually pretty reasonable i think.

Welcome aboard, How times have changed in California. I went to the first POST course they started at Napa Valley College in the 80's. If you were from that area I would highly recommend going there.. If you were looking for a truck driver training company, I would highly recommend Prime....
