find a tractor with 1850 or more torque. While HP is good, torque is king for pulling.

Get big rear ends, like 46K or more, if you are going to do this constant.

18spds are 13's with the low end split as well as the high range.

You either need to put the axles on the truck or put them on the trailer/dolly.

The pusher I had on the international I think only netted me an additional 1750 extra pounds on the truck. That thing was #### heavy.

Just loaded with a guy today who had a brand new 389 glider built for heavy hauling. It had a 1000hp C16 and the truck was built by Pittsburgh Power. He said he had $325,000 into the truck !!!!!

Worst part was we are both hauling the exact same load and I only paid $35,000 for my used Western Star that is just a basic truck lol

I ran 130k for years with my 1st truck. A Freightliner with 40 rears a 425 hp Detroit with a 9spd, no issues at all. The truck i run heavy with now has a 550 hp cat 18spd,46 rears and a suspension insert. Do not need it but imo its less wear and tear on the truck and drivetrain pulling heavy all the time.

PP builds some great rigs, but that cost is crazy.

I drove a rig built by Tom Lindsay, now that man knows his engines.

Years ago I was driving an old highway spec Mack cab over doing heavy haul.
A friend who had the latest greatest brand new heavy hauler calls me up while I'm crawling up a mountain pass.
He asks sarcastically , "What is that terrible noise in the back round" knowing full well its the Mack doing its best against the odds.
I answer him "It's my bank manager snoring soundly while peacefully asleep in my sleeper".
He didn't know what to say knowing the joke had been turned on him.

    Well I have a 99 fld. 500 detroit 18 speed and 46k rears. Mty I'm almost 92k. Lded up 260k
This ol trk. still does the job, almost 1 million miles on her. the only think I hate is the engine is a low torque motor. So I'm real slow on the hills, but I still get the job done.

Ok Bottlefed89 whats the deal behind putting these jakes in? Will a exhaust brake work just as well? I guess we can cross our I's and dot our t's on the pete maybe bump it a little and have an overhead etc done on it and see how it goes.
