I begin my adventure with Crete tomorrow. I plan to chronicle my experience with Crete. I've heard and read many good things about this company. Also, I see their trucks constantly where I live moving freight--a good sign.

A little about me: I just came out of a 5 week refresher course yesterday--been out of trucking for nine years. I'm feeling very confident. This time around I'm going for OTR--3-4 weeks out at a time, as I've raised my family and have independence again. Last time around, I drove OTR briefly, ran regional for a while--home weekly, and then drove local out of Columbus, Ohio.

I'll try to post once or twice a week starting with Crete's three day preliminary physical/drug screen/hotel stay/terminal experience/road test in Columbus, Ohio. :biggrin_25525:

    Interesting--Crete's process:

    3-day screening: physical/drug screen/road test
8 week training period in truck
Lincoln, Nebraska for 3-day company orientation
after a second? road test, you get your truck and begin solo

For refreshers, I believe training may be shortened depending upon performance.

I like the idea of having the orientation split into two parts, before and after training--no boring week long orientation right off the get go. :biggrin_25514:

First of all...great screen name! Very clever!

Secondly, I hope all goes well for you. I've been with Crete since early Feb., and aside from a few issues the first few weeks, and a little lack of communication at Lincoln, if I'm available, I'm running. I think the longest I've sat (not including truck servicing) is about 90 minutes, and only once or twice.

No pets. The only drivers with pets are the ones that had pets when the no-pet policy started a few years ago.

Can't wait to read more updates. I'm in your exact same position. I took 5.5 years away from trucking. I used to work for Crete back in the early 2000's - but they said since I've been off the road for more than 5 years I would have to take a "full" truck driving course and not a "refresher". The economy is so messed up right now, I hope they will re-hire me after I finish trucking school.

Please update us what you are currently doing. Thanks :biggrin_255:
