All carriers will have their pros and cons, its hard to really list them because you will hear alot of great things about a company and alot of horror stories, One of the main things would be, is to make sure that you feel like your with a company that you feel comfortable working for, I guess its going to be a trial and error type thing starting out. I guarantee there will be times your going to feel down in the dumps with trucking, and other times where your going to feel like nothing can go wrong. You really just have to do research and figure out what is your cuppa tea. (eg. Flatbed/Van- Time off policy- Type of truck your after- Training req- long term goals- etc)
So in saying that, my experience in trucking has been good with USX, and wouldnt go with another carrier until im ready to hang up trucking altogether.
I hope this has helped you out some, and good luck on who you decide to go with
let me know if i can help more

Day is going good, 5 more hrs before I can jump on the road, sitting in Sulphur Spgs, TX , del load in Byhalia, MS in the a.m Then going to W. Memphis, AR going to W. Columbia for 1am Monday a.m. sounds good to me

sorry about posting prev reply in this thread lol -
I thoroughly enjoyed my time home even though it was cut short by a day. I wanted to take 5 days but co-driver put 4 days on the macro. I should have been paying attention.
Picked up in Miami and delivered in Quincy Mass. Then we got a run that picked up way down in NJ and goes to Cali. Gotta love having hazmat. Also this is a reefer run. My first time. Now we are sitting in Barstow getting a restart because we can't deliver until Monday morning.
Of course the co-driver blew the fuel stop coming down to Jersey because he can't use the DT yet...still. Then he got lost trying to find the yard in Kearny because he only wrote down about half the directions. Then he wandered off 1-9 completely and started randomnly driving around Jersey...LOL I got us back on track. Haven't had much sleep so i'm glad for the weekend load this time. I know we won't be dropping this at the yard because we are the only hazmat team in the company (it really does seem like that sometimes).
Yes, I am still stuck with him for the time being. They offered me a non-smoker from Jax but I didn't want that. I'll be calling the training dept on Monday to look into that. Keeping all my options open... -
Could be better. Could be worse too. Me and the wife made it through orientation fine. But my trainers truck took a crap up here in NH so Ive been greyhounding it since yesterday evening. So yea. some good some bad .

I got to get up close and personal with the White House today....TWICE!!!.....couldn't make a left turn after my first drop so ended up trying to get to the 295 by following the signs....13'0 bridge and a 13'3 bridge....follow direction given to me by a policeman, ended up running around the neighborhood and back to the White House where a very nice policeman guided me out and got me on the right road to get to Bolling AFB for my 2nd drop.
I am sooooo glad my day is over!!!!!!!!!!!Jarhed1964 Thanks this. -
