Lol! Awesome. I love this job more than anything in the world, but I don't get why some gals out here look gnarly and don't put any effort into maintaining themselves. But hey, more wolf whistles for me right? Lol. Ok, done thread highjacking.

LOL Every morning I look over at my wife and take time to let her know just how good she looks ....

Nothing wrong with a few wolf whistles :biggrin_2556: ..... or even being asked for a ID at the bar ...:biggrin_2559:

    Be safe ....

The dirty little secret about stock, I said stock, CB radio setups is that all stock CB radios output about 3 watts of power. It is the antenna that makes all the difference.
    .
If you can afford it, buy an antenna with a loading coil. They work great. If you have a budget constraint, then get a 4, 4 1/2 or 5 foot antenna without a loading coil. Stay away from those short 2 and 3 foot antennas. Longer antennas just work better with the sole exception being those antennas with a loading coil that also work well.
    .
While the radio does almost all of the work, the antenna is the single most important component of your stock, again I said stock, CB radio setup that you will purchase. A better antenna allows the radio to be all that it is capable of being.
    .
Cobra radios have a very good reputation. Especially the much older ones that were built in Japan, Taiwan and the Phillipines. However, the current Cobra radios are now built in China. The newer radios have better technology but I wonder about the quality control. Just a thought.

I'm considering buying a Galaxy. Money is not an issue. If I cannot afford something, I save for it until I can. I have a buddy that's going to install and tweak it for me.

Which Galaxy?? I love my 94hp. Audio is top shelf, always get compliments on it.

I would love to find a clean 99v.

There is a lot of reports that the new china built cobra 148s with front mounted mic being very bad radios and cobra has no plans to fix the problems.
It's more than just a quality control issue. The technology may be better but the implementation outweighs any benefit.
    Just what I hear.

There are many good radios to choose from .... just like cars everyone has one they like best ....

As a rule stick to a name brand and one that has a record buying some unknown radio can be a real problem if you need repair ....

Have fun with your toys ......

Hell, with all the tech talk, I'm more convinced that ever, that when I do go solo, and can finally afford to buy a CB, I'm going to have to find someone to install it for me, because I don't even know how to do that, let alone all the other stuff I've been reading about here (this thread, et al)

    Just did a Google search:

    Yeah...That's clear as mud. :biggrin_25510:
