What a week it's been so far. Got assigned to a mentor, and did a road test, yesterday, which I did pretty good on. Had time for one load, and unload.
Today, I went out with a different guy, and got to witness the brutality of some of the lease "roads".....today also brought home a lesson, that the dangers of the oil field, are very real, and unforgiving to both man, and machine...fortunately, everyone went home today. That's all, I ought to say about that.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.
Another oil field hopeful...

Did you see first hand some of the steep hills that seem to go straight up and around and down on a rutted road and your trailer is still on the back side? Those are even more fun at night on a wet caliche pig trail.

It can be an interesting job. -
That pretty much described the one we were on yesterday. A dirt trail roller coaster, that would be a challenge to someone in a 4WD, let alone a tractor trailer. This job will definitely test your driving skills, no doubt.Last edited: Apr 22, 2012

Where in Texas are you? I thought you were in Odessa. I didn't see any hills in MOdessa.

I started looking for work in M/O, but got hired on with Nabors, in Iraan.

Out here in Andrews there's no hills but ya the roads are pretty rough with large and long speed bumps to keep all the Young guys from tearing up the trucks and dust down.If you all like to go fast the oil field ain't for you.Few days ago a young gal and her friends tried to beat a vacuum truck on the highway here, pulled out in front of him and lost, he tried to miss her but ended up flipping and killing himself. She will be charged with somthing when she gets outta the hospital. Glad things are going well Rob,your gonna have a blast. As I told ya on the phone today I been seeing alot of your trucks at the SWD's.Last week I did 76 hrs for a Very large check and with working today will give me well over 80 for this week. Prolly break the 2k mark I been shooting for.talk at ya later buddy.
