I have been approved by Stevens AND USA via Driver solutions.. I have heard good/bad things about both.. I just wanted to know what was the best option.
I have zero needs when it comes to home-time or routes I am 100% flexible. I have no problem honoring the 1 year commitment with either company. Is it true that both companies just randomly for NO REASON stop giving drivers miles simply to get the driver to quit so they can pay back the 6k for school?
If I have no problems with lack of home-time or routes or anything and do my job as im told.. will I keep my job for the 1 year or do i constantly have to worry?
I have the option to go to stevens school or c-1 school for USA.. which company do I have the best chance of keeping my job and earning as much $$$ as possible??
I have heard some bad stories for both companies but usually its because the driver wants hometime or isnt ready to work when the company asks or something.. I'll have no problem with any of that. I'll be able to wrok whenever wherever for however long.. i just want to know which school is good and which company really does GUARANTEE the job after graduation..
Any help would be really appreciated. thanks guys

You are never guaranteed a job no matter where you go. I'm going to FFE and they are treating me well. No company wants to short you on miles to make you quit. That's a stupid concept. Miles is what makes them money. They want you to work hard and take the loads they NEED you to take without whining or complaining. FFE pays more in training with no out of pocket expense for school. The two you are considering deduct out of your paycheck for the first year and then refund it to you if you complete your commitment.

Every company will have good/bad things... some more than others. Read read read and talk to drivers...
Since you're in DFW, you have a lot of choices as far as companies and what you want to run. Van/reefer/flatbed/tanker... Not trying to "recruit" but check out schneider, for a starter company they're really good. Lots of different accounts for regional/dedicated or tanker if you don't want to go OTR.
Good luck.Big Duker Thanks this. -
Stevens is a rat outfit and always has been. Same with FFE. Schneider would beat either of them. Swift is better. SW refrigerated {i think} out by Texarkana . I don't like reefer so they would be out for me. Some love them. There is something for everyone in the trucking business.
andres Thanks this. -
Heard good things from a few seasoned drivers about SRT, if you like reefer.

I would go with Stevens over USA based on trucks and comments from drivers. But I have very little to go on.
-
That's the one I was trying to think of. I've heard good about them as well. Just not into reefer. Only way I would do that was with own auth and customers. Lot of money to be made if you know the ropes.

Can't speak for Stevens, but USA Truck is not a place to make money! They don't care about driver's period. I am not a person afraid of work, my comments aren't based on being lazy or ignorant, just wanted to work, support my family and earn a decent wage. You can't do any of that at USA Truck! The only days you won't be lied to are the days you do not get in contact with then! They will routinely assign you a 300 to 500 mile load and stretch it out over a 3 to 4 day period. The deceit will start in orientation when they convince you to take per diem, stating you will get more money back at tax time. Get more money 1 time a year hmmm They don't mention the fact that you lose money 52 times in that same year to get more one time! If you take per diem and they say you will start at 26 cents per mile Ha! Check your 1st paystub after you are on your own! I guarantee you will be making less then 26 cpm! And they will tell you when you ask, it's because you are getting per diem. Ask at orientation about layover pay, detention pay and breakdown pay, They will not volunteer this information unless you ask! They won't pay you unless you ask. Don't let them get behind on scale tickets, always question your paycheck when you feel it isn't right! While I was there I only had one dispatcher who didn't lie to me or cheat me out of money! You should get used to fighting for what you know you are due! They don't even pay for any holidays! Stick out the one year to protect your credit and move on. Look at the year as an investment in your trucking career and leave! You would have to be a total screw up to get fired. Good luck! I only scratched the surface here.Big Duker Thanks this.

I have been thinking about Schneider or Swift. Except that the only school I found for Swift is out in SA. How did you start? -
The State of Michigan has a program called "no worker left behind" they are paying up to 5K for my training, so i dont need to sign a contract for certain amount of time without being charged for training. I have looked at aolt of companies as many of the students have done im sure, and Schnieder is right now at top of my list. Gl to you on whatever company you choose andres.
andres Thanks this.
