I drove for 22 cpm for 1 month while with a trainer. Then up to 31.5 them 33 now 39cpm. I still feel I am worth more but I accept what is enough to provide for my family. But I do interview companys. One way is through hours and hours of reading this forum. Another is talking to current drivers. A third is asking what contracts the company has. If they name a bunch of low paying contracts ie Dollar Genral, Walmart, Target, and Tyson I keep going. Why These contracts are to multiple companys to force low pay to the company thereby to the drivers. Most of these contracts call every company out there and say "Company X is hauling for 1.85 per mile if you haul for 1.80 per mile we will make you our primary carrier. Then repeast with company X till they get a extremely low price.

You're exactly right.I thought this post died of lack of interest or nobody wanting to be reminded of the way company's screw over the driver.

So the owners are worried about drivers abusing Hub miles so they pay HHG? What a crock of dung. They do it because the drivers agree by hiring on that they will let them screw them over. I don't see any company touting in their ads, hey come work here, we pay HHG. They know it is a rip off but drivers don't care because they are happy to have a job. And don't seem to care till after the fact and then whine about it.

If a driver is abusing the hub miles you can their ### and tell everyone that they are next if they abuse it. Problem solved This I am a helpless victim and have to protect myself by shaving miles and driver pay is laughable.

What the carrier and shipper agree on has nothing to do with how the driver should be payed. If you say you pay all loaded and mty miles, thats what you should pay. Not then come back and say those miles are from zip to zip because that is not all miles is it?

Similar problem, I have what I thought was a good paying job, 38 cents per mile loaded and they use a mileage program that has been pretty close to actual mileage. When I first started pay was good and I really did not check my pay against mileage cause it was ok. Then I started to get lower paychecks. Thats when I realized there was a huge problem. Turned out I was getting paid only 17 cts per mile for under 500 miles of deadheading, 19cts for over 500 to 1000 and 23 for over 1000. Well on the bad weeks I was deadheading more than I was loaded! I am seriously debating what to doas I need a job and they do pay well when loaded, I am up for a raise in 2 weeks to 40 cts per mile loaded. I haul boats and the larger the boat the higher the pay we can make up to 48 50 cts per mile, but the deadhead pay is way too low. I have spoken to company about it and they refuse to raise dweadhead pay and claim they are losing money. Total bull #### if you ask me, they get paid so much for hauling a boat its not even funny, as I see some of the invoices they are making a killing. Plus I have been out for 5 weeks now! Definetally not making what I should for time in this truck. Debating what to do!

OK lets say you drive a boat 1000 miles at 50 cent per mile, $500 gross then you drive 1000 miles DH at 23 cents per miles $230 for a total of $730 for 2000 miles .365 cents per mile average, which is not to bad unless your pulling over dimension boats then I would say you are getting shafted.

Companies should pay the google miles or yahoo miles. Those are very accurate and almost to the actual miles driven.
