I have Heard rumors that USA has Strick req. on blood pressure and other health concerns. I'm 25 weigh about 190 lbs 5,7 yes i know im a lilttle over weigh for my age etc... I know the Guide lines are 140/80 for BP But yesterday 13 of us went to the doctor and every single one of us but one person had high blood pressure. I got a one year pass.. But my BP was 152/92 first reading secondary one 5mins later, was 148/90 . My question is USA going to change once i get to orientation?

Even with meds, you'll only get a one year ticket from Mad Jack the Jungle Quack... It's written into the regs.

It's 140/90. They shouldn't of passed you. That doctor doesn't know the regulations and shouldn't be giving DOT physicals.

That goes with any company. It's not just USA.

More importantly you need to get them numbers down. Like Bubba said go to the doctor and get you a $4 Walmart script for Metoprolol and/or Lisinopril. It takes about a month for your numbers to settle. It'll save damage to your cardiovascular system and buy you a few days of breathing. By the time the doc is done with you it'll be down to 110/70. A fine tuned athlete. :)

There's a reason for a limit on BP. Get the numbers down or further health problems are right around the corner. They don't want drivers having heart attacks going down the road in a 80,000 lb truck.

You can take an aspirin an hour before the test and it'll lower your numbers. Also avoid caffeine and smoking cigarettes that morning.

Definitely do not smoke cigarettes or drink coffee the day a blood pressure check is to be administered, as CondoCruiser mentioned.

Look into Cayenne Pepper, as one of the benefits of using it is that it equalizes the blood pressure, and is a natural vasodilator.

I had an espresso before going in for my DOT physical just recently, and that coupled with the thought of a man touching my body sent my BP through the roof! I had to lay down and dream of sitting on a beach for around 15 minutes before they rechecked mine. DO NOT DRINK COFFEE!
