Looking for some help and advice on some things.

My setup is this. Cobra 29 ltd, peeked/tuned, 16ft wilson coax, cheap truck stop made in usa fiberglass antenna. (soon to have wilson t2000 on there just havent done it yet.) astatic mic. CB wired into the factory spot on a International daycab 2009 model year.

    1) I was checking swr. and on channel 40, the fans for the ac/heat will turn on. With truck running. I cant remember if they would turn on when truck was off. And my swr is higher when the truck is running. Whats causing this? Is it a ground problem or interfearance from my tuned BIG OLE 29 *hahaha*

    2) As a general rule. Should I ground the chassis to something? And Should I ground the antenna mount to something.

    3) My deadkey is way off the meter. Is this safe or correct for a "peek/tune" I know they are supposted to turn up the modulation but I didnt think deadkey went up.

    I appreciate it hams.

Make sure on the antenna mount that the plastic insulating washer is on the top side of the bracket

Yeah, I was just asking for some help. I have never had this problem before. I have ran this setup on several other trucks and never had a problem.

Its can be hard and confusing to get honest advice on CB's. Especially because alot of the old skool cb'ers are fading away and must new breeds dont care about the CB.

When i got through the negativity of Channel Jumpers reply, I learned something. Dont understand the attitude though. I must of took his lunch money when he was younger..

I've got some things to check now.. Thanks.

Jumper is only here cause he's probably been booted from the ham forums for being an a ss . Seems he likes to remind people how technical savvy he is but anyone can be booksmart. Thought this was a trucker forum and don't see him driving anything other than that ugly monte ss he has up there. Wonder if that car comes with a dental dam?:biggrin_25522::biggrin_2559:

He thinks he is technically savvy, but he really isn't. He does a fair job of "cut and paste" but he doesn't understand what it means.
