You would think that they would do all the checking on your background, DAC, and whatever before they spend money to put you on a bus and in a hotel, but from reading on this forum, that's not the way they do it at USX. Other companies do. If I get up there and it doesn't work out for one reason or another, I'll just chalk it up to this not being the company I'm supposed to be working for and move on. I don't want to have to spend $$ to get home, but whatever.
So Let Me Get This Straight??

Yeah that's bull. It should be required by law that they have to check all that before so that these people don't waste our time and theirs and there money. If I go there and get sent home I'm raising hell.

About 30% to 40% of drivers commit but do not show up for orientation. The company would be stupid to run the full background check before they had your butt in the chair. If you have disclosed everything and you can pass the physical and drug test you should not have a problem
-
Why do you say they don't show up? I want a adventure of seeing the us and getting paid for it. But my biggest thing is getting the automatic truck and the gps and all that
-
Not really sure what it is you really think that you are going to see from the seat of the truck. I would also think that most of the automatic trans trucks are all gone too. The GPS in the trucks is not something you want to count on either. It can get you into trouble if you do know know how to read the signs and the road too. A certain percent do not show up as well as a certain percent dont make it the 3 days, then a larger percent dont last much after the so called training either.SheepDog Thanks this.

Well, you do see the interstate and all the things you'd like to do, if only you had the time to stop, or if they had truck parking, or if you have money to do them, or the time to stop....wait did I say if only you had the time to stop?

I try to make a mental list of all the places I want to come back and see as a tourist....but I am discovering that there are holes in my brain....LOL
SheepDog and Jarhed1964 Thank this. -

They're interested in you otherwise you would'nt have got prehired. But before you're on their payroll you have to pass the drug test, make sure their are'nt any glitches in your application and a road test. But don't let that make you nervous, they just wanna make sure your capable of handeling an 18 wheeler before going out with a trainer. It may seem like alot but really its just standard procedure with any company.
