Are there any companies that will train us together anymore? I read that USXpress and Interstate used to but what about these days? CRST is the only one I found that comes close.

How is swift? Have you had any experience doing this with them?

How is it 3 will reside inside a truck for 4-6 weeks? I'm just curious. Personally, I wouldn't want any part of that.

    LuckyTexas and MNdriver Thank this.

My husband did not like Swift (disagreement with Safety on icy driving conditions), to be honest. If you can stand to be apart for 6 weeks, I would recommend FFE training... I'm sure some will disagree with me, but they have treated us well. They will train your husband and then he can train you. It's way better than 3 people in the truck. I totally agree with you STexan, that would be weird and uncomfortable.

Covenant will. Just go to Covenant thread.... There's a couple, TransportHer, they give good info about their experience.

My wife and I did it at Central Ref. Its just really going to depend on the trainer at those particular companies. It sucks riding three people in the truck! Another option would be for your husband to go through school and training and in three months he should have enough experience to train you. She could probably even ride with you during your three months of experience as just a rider not a driver.

I understand your concern as I were in the exact same position. Its tough to think about being separated and throwing your loved one on a truck with a stranger for a month while you go in the opposite direction with your trainer.

Wish you the best! Let me know if you need anything.

chompi, thanks for the input. We are both from FL. Looks like Central Ref is a pretty good sounding company from what I can tell, and the starting CPM looks very competitive compared to the others.

Does anyone think I should be concerned about getting the miles I need from a company when I first start? Or will I be begging to get off the road when I start?

Armellini is another good choice out of FL. Floral carrier (reefer). Really good pay but is a hands on driving position. Time out is usually 5-7 day turn-arounds. Like I said really good pay cause you get mileage plus stops. Stops can range from 10-70. You haul flowers and fern out of state delivering mostly to flower shops and box stores. Once you are empty you grab a load and come back home.

When researching your companies try to look for a medium to large size company. You will have a better chance of staying busy and more of chance of drop and hook which is very important in maximizing your mileage. Husband/wife teams are also the "cream of the crop" and are treated like gold! So you can afford to be a little more picky choosing companies than single drivers. On the down side you live in Fl so getting home will always be a challenge, however, as a husband/wife team you will be out for longer periods of time anyway. You may also want to look into companies that have leasing as an option. A year or two from now when you guys have the trucking thing figured out it maybe financially beneficial to you to own your own truck. If you were a single driver I wouldn't recommend it but as a team its definitely a plus. Our first year as company drivers we did over $120,000! Our second year we got our own truck and did well over $200,000! With two drivers that lease payment doesn't hurt as much!

PM me if you have any questions, I will be glad to help you guys out!

    Good luck!

I plan on joining my husband out on the road. I'm gonna go to school this summer after my last one graduates, and we discussed the idea of my husband being my trainer. After a lot of discussion, we decided that might not be a wonderful idea. Even though he is experienced...........I still think it's a good idea to be trained by someone else.:biggrin_2558:
