Open door communication is important. If the boss is too busy to field a phone call about a job application, as a matter of policy, he will be too busy to field one when you have a problem. I would probably call anyway once a week after the first 10 days or so if the job is worth it.

Giants thats interesting that you haven't heard of the 75 bucks for every 12hr you sit. Is it possible that its a Turlock thing? The west coast guys are suposed to be getting it, and most do, but now if dispatch see's a delay in the making, they just change the appoitment time in the computer so the driver can't get the money.

Day 3 of sitting in Nogales. Mexicans are probably screwing with us because we're gringos. Called Turlock and they said there isn't much they can do as long as the load is still on the other side of the border. I hope I get something good out of this $h!t. All I'm gonna say is it's a good thing my 45 my 38 snub nose and my 9mm are all at home right now.
