The best piece of advice Ive been given yet about becoming an owner/operator is that you dont want to do it until youve got around 30,000 sitting in the bank. As an o/o you are responsible for gas and tractor maintainance, and that includes repairs with can be quite costly.

I wonder, do you HAVE to live in MO to get hired by Prime? My residence is in CA, and was looking at Prime, but am worried about having to live there. I have pretty much no money to speak of for moving, etc. so that would be a problem.

If you actually look at the locations of the drivers, you would notice that most of them don't live in MO. So, NO. You don't have to live in MO.

Seriously? I only know a few drivers who live in Mo...

My wife and I have the same plan! I plan on going to SpringMO in June, pay my dues, get my company truck, have her and our dog ride with me for a while and see if she wants to also drive.
Good luck to you! I'll be interested in following your posts!

No, Im from Nevada, Call the recruiter and talk to them.

Heck NO! I belong to the branch of my family that escaped from Missouri!!

I suppose that makes it rather wierd that I'm employed IN Missouri!!

Just wanted to let future trucking wantabee's. Get your permits before you get to springmo. This will get you going a lot faster. Also, start learning about the trucks you will be driving. Learn the anatomy of the truck. Know where to find the components that you must identify during the pretrip. Do this and you will be way ahead of the class.
