You want bad!!! Go to the coke location in LA, terrible to get to, tiny narrow roads, no parking except a tow away zone, indifferent fork drivers with two speeds, dead slow, and stop! I showed up there at 12:30 for a 1:30 apt, finally got out of there at 5:45pm into the lovely LA traffic. I really think that they were doing it on purpose, there were 5 of us loading that had arrived over a 2 hour window and everybody was done within a 15min window. A trip that should have taken 5.5 hours ended jup taking me 7.5 hours by the time I got out of the LA area. Told my dispatcher don't send me there again!

pepsi would be out of luck if I was driver. I don't touch freight, ever. health reasons and co. ins. policy. lol Yes some companies allow you to do that.
I'm a driver not a dock worker,anymore. -
that is what i started telling dispatch. i drive the truck, not work the dock. sorry. it might be different if i could get paid what they pay the lumpers. i could unload a trailer and make 75 bucks, or they would pay a pumper 350 to do the same thing. how f'ed up is that?

Coke only pays detention if you are on time for a scheduled appointment, literally 10 minutes late and loose your appt time. when that happens you won't get a single penny from them. Should be glad they don't charge a lumper i guess.

Coca Cola, Baltimore Md. When I was hauling pallets, the company kept an empty trailer there and all we were to do was drop and hook. Well, went in one night and was told, "we ain't got the trailer you brought in last time unloaded yet, so we will live unload you". Now Coca Cola in Baltimore is a ##### hole and you have to back in a tight dock off a 4-lane road, blocking traffic the whole time. It took 2 1/2 hrs for them to unload me. Next time I go there, same song and dance. Backed into the dock around 10:30pm @ midnight they had not touched me. I walk around to the office and get the "song", "we are about to get you"-----1:30am rolls around, still no activity. I walk back around to the office and get the same "song"-----2:20am comes and still not been touched. Now I got my $ss on my shoulder and go back to the office---now mind you, I am in a day cab---I tell the man in the office, "@ 3:30am I am leaving here, empty, loaded or bobtail, I don't care and I don't mean start @ 3:30am, I mean be finished"----Well 3:15am arrives and still nothing, I go out and start unhooking, I can't take the trailer cause it is locked into the dock. I start pulling out from underneath the trailer @ 3:25am and said "bye-bye, now you got 2 of our trailers and called the boss and told him I was bobtailing home. Never went back to that "hole".

Any more recent experiences ther , say on unloading plastic bottles ? -
Paw Paw isn’t bad. They don’t respect appointments, but who does? 3 hours to load isn’t bad, but why should it take that long when you had an appointment not like they didn’t know you were coming. They set the time! If there was a law guaranteeing detention pay starting minute one (which is easy to do with ELDs) I bet all these companies would suddenly load VERY quickly or only do drop and hook loads (benefiting only big carriers).

I picked up a load from Portland, OR once and they threatened to kick me out for bringing a pepsi product into the building. Well I am sorry you don't let us stay in our trucks and take forever to load. I was thirsty and you don't make any good soda's. Ultimately they made me finish it and throw it away. Next time I will get a coke bottle and put my MT Dew in it lol see what they say then.
