We presently live in Florida, but would be willing to relocate for the right offer. She has a squeaky clean driving record, got her CDL permit but has not attended school or obtained her CDL yet. She's currently riding with me, loving every minute, and sucking up info like a hot little knowledge sponge.
I've been driving OTR for about seven years, started with Werner and ended up as a trainer O/O with them for about 3.5 years. Jumped over to Heartland for a bit, then ran dump trucks locally, and am now getting Less with Lessors. My record isn't squeaky clean but not dinged to hell either. Darned good on-time delivery record and no moving violations since I got my CDL. Both of us can get our HazMats and could run Canada if we had to.
As stated, we live in Florida (zip 34420) but would be willing to relocate, preferably to someplace with a fair amount of liberty remaining on its lawbooks. Wyoming and Arizona look pretty nice from here.
What we'd really love is a company that does its own CDL training and that would let me train her (of course someone else would have to do the testing to prevent a conflict of interest, but whatever) and then team us up; barring that, a really good company that hires fresh recruits would work also. I've run dry van and TCU; given my experiences with the latter I think we'd be happier with a van company or a large TCU carrier that does mostly drop and hook. I'd rather avoid flatbed work but would be okay with it. Any takers?
