Hey marhud2002 congratulations on graduation. My son just graduated from trucking school. He went to work for Star in Nashville. How did you find Windy Hill Foliage, or did they find you? I drove truck for 12 years OTR, but I've been out of it for about 20 years. I'm thinking about coming back, and wondering what companies to apply to. I kept my CDL current all these years. I don't know anything about Windy Hill, but keep us posted. I live in DeBary Fl. near Deland, and I may be looking for a job.
    Best of luck to you.

Windy Hill was the very first of many recruiters to visit our school (Fox Valley Tech, in Wisconsin). From what I remember, there was alot of delivering involved (Flowers I think), but drivers were of course compensated for each stop. I think they were a smaller sized company, but growing modestly. Good luck!

Yes the recruiter came to my school also but learning from these post you can't always believe the recruiters so I am hoping to find somone with first hand knowlege that either has worked or knows somone that has worked for this company to give me the inside scoop.

They came to my school in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. I was not impressed with them since you cannot take your truck home. You have to drive to and from Marshfield,WI every time you start or end your time on the road. The pay was not too good (.27 to start) and pretty meager increases to follow.

Rather than route you to their terminal for maintainance, they make you leave your truck in Marshfield all the time. They have a terminal in Eustis, Fl also. She stood in front of the class like she was really offering a great job.

I called and talked to a recruiter the other day they only have 60 trucks thats a good thing..they run good trucks it looked like thats a good thing...they are reefer thats a good thing but it could be a bad thing also..yes they are outa Eustis Florida...and up north in wisconson...i was thinking of moving to Florida and going to work for them...i am thinking they are self insured cause they will take u with alot of things on ur mvr....but thats just my educated guess....seems like the company isnt to bad.....havnt seen mutch on them here on the truckers report so thatsa plus,,,,,,well good luck,,,just do ur homework make sure u feel comfortible with ur choice cause jumping from company to company is not a good thing nowadays...And as far as parking trucks at the yards thats a good and bad the bad u gotta drive to get home the good u dont have to worrie about theft or no starts wich causes out of pocket expence atleast with most companies thats what i have come across..

Hey Yogi, I have had a few friends and one cousin all work for Windy Hill and they loved it! They are a very laid back company. They let you do your thing and aren't sending you messages or calling you all day long. Another good thing was that they pretty much just run the heartland so its all easy driving. They do a lot of home depots and lowes, walmart etc... You make your delivery right to the stores not a warehouse. My cousin loved this because he always had a nice parking spot all to himself when it was time to shut down. A lot of their loads are multi stop and you get paid per mile and per stop, so you can make some really good money. This is why it seems like their mileage pay is lower. Good luck man!

I ran for them for 2 yrs and just like dartman said it's the truth. They want you to run legal but you will be punished for it by setting and waiting. when you get to bolingbrook and get a load out of fairrington, you will check in and get a dock but you will wait almost all day before they ever drop the gate on ur truck.the worst is alg.they did keep me running, and they know who will run and who wont.and they did get me home the day I wanted or the next day. i just tore my log book apart and ran it looseleaf style. which worked out great.my trainer was brian from wisconsin.I started in an international then went to the fl columbia wich has tons of room and is layed out good.I did like my runs but hated being gone so long.I finally gave it up when I was setting too much and for any newbies truckstops aint cheap!! they gouge you everytime you turn around.i started at .27 a mile then got a raise on their schedule made it up to .31 a mile then we got a note saying due to the economy no raises, no layover . not sure how things are now.but they did maintain the equipment nicely.the runs consisted of plants out of fl. then a reload going to chicago area or wisconsin. the ride to colorado is nice but the waiting for days for a reload is bullshiz.samething if ur going to tx or al.all i can say it was a job when i needed one and it payed the bills.i miss the road and might come back out but not with them.good luck

Oh, my bad, you see my cousin was a "truck driver". He realized these things before he went to the company. He did great there and made good money! If you are frustrated with working at windy hill put your training wheels back on!
