Truckstops, Rest Areas, Other Safe Havens: The Good, The Bad And The Ugly

Did any of you guys ever eat at the old Gas City at the 230 on I65 ? They had a Mexican buffet that would violently clean your system...I mean it was horrible.

 

T/A in Candler (Asheville), NC on 40 before the Tenn line. Horrid parking layout, not enough parking, horrid food.

Also the Hess on Holland Road in Suffolk, VA we pick up at Lipton there, if you get bored look it up on Google Earth and find the overnight parking spots, there are 3 of them.

 

I live just down the road from that Candler TA. It's just a crap hole, but the food depends on who's cooking.

 

i have to say the showers at the T A in fultonville NY are the most disgusting dirty filthy nasty showers i have ever seen i walked in the shower the previous clients dirty deed was still in the toilet i guess he could,nt flush it and neither could the shower attendant and the sink was not cleaned there was still hair on the back where the previous person had shaved you would think i asked for a million dollars when i asked for a new shower the girl at the counter actually had the guts to say well could you just flush the toilet and take your shower to which i replied I DON,T THINK SO I DON,T GET PAID TO CLEAN YOUR SHOWERS i finally did get a new shower assigned after 10 mins of argueing and asking to see a mgr the 2nd shower was not much better but at least there was no poo in the toilet and the sink at least looked clean so TA Fultonville NY is off my list

 

The 109 on I-81 in Pa. Its a pilot but there is a Diner next door has really good food for reasonable prices and cold Beer

 

Pulled into the TA at exit 168 on I-65 in montgomery AL. I ran over my drive time by about 5 minutes so I'm stuck here. First, it's very small and tight. It just finished raining enough to get the ground wet, with it being so hot its like a sauna. (sp?) I got out to go eat and the smell of stale piss hit me in the face. Almost made me throw up. This place is as nasty as it can get. Everything is dirty the salad was turning brown at the soup and salad bar. Whatever you do, save yourself from this hell. Do not stop here.

 

another TA that i will not reccommend ta on I_70 west of columbus at London Ohio food is horrendous ate soup and salad bar spend the rest of the night sitting on or bending over toilet

 

Go a lil further down the road to the speedway. Tons of truck parking and don't get gauged truck stop prices. 2 for 2 breakfast sammichs and pizza slices.
First time in the Kingsville Oh TA in like 3 months, they took the giant rocks out of the entrance drive.
