Many do. I take my daughter every Friday for her "truckin day".
-
As far as I know as long as you get permission from the company you're good to go.
-
Most do (immediate family/spouse only), but not all. Also, most will charge a minimal monthly "insurance" rider fee during the months where you have a rider.
-
Think you have to wait like 90 days before you can have passengers.
-
Most companies have passanger policies. But bringing a passanger aboard without letting the comapny know is a big no no. (Insurance purposes)
-
Thanks all for the information...
Do companies allow non related want-a-be to ride, or do you have to go to school, get your CDL, then get a job to figure out if driving is for you or not? -
So, the original question branches off in a totally new direction.
If you are a driver that wishes to have a spouse or family member, or even a friend, ride along - then ask the question to your company.
If you are wanna be and want to ride along with a friend that is a driver, have the driver check with his/her company.
Asking opinions here will get you nowhere, as every company has its own rules. -
Total wanna be.. I wasn't asking for an opinion, but rather is this something that is possible/common/or normal in the trucking World. -
many companies forbid passengers that have CDLs for fear you may let them them drive.
