If you can spend 300 to 700 on a radio I recommend the best radio money can buy. Ranger RCI 2970 DX or!!! Ranger 69fc4. The fc4 will do close to 400 watts. No amp needed and it covers 10 11 and 12 meters! No you dont use those channels alot but if you get board you can take the 400 watts it produces and talk skip with the best of them above 40 or below 40. The 2870 DX or 2970 N2 are the same as the 69ffc4 but only do 150 plus watts. Sure 150 watts is alot but not 400! I have been into CB radio and ham for over 20 years and trust me what I say that these radios are the best money can buy and so to them being built by the best they sound better and work as far as the cheaper radios with 500 plus watts behind them. Take this advice in stride my friend. You cant go wrong. 2970DX is 325.00 new to 200 used. The 69ffc4 is 650.00 new to 450.00 used. Both worth the money by far!

The 40 below ( 24.890 - 24.990 mhz ) and above ( 28.000 - 29.700 mhz )i think .......
14er Thanks this. -
Does the 400 w come from the Mic, because when I read this it says 150 w from the unit. Not that I claim to understand alot of this but am asking for clarification.

Ifyou read the post correctly you would see that it stated the 2970DX does around 200 and the 69FFC4 does 400. Both these specs are after a peak tune and realignment that can be done by the accredited seller. The radios can also be converted to 11 meters by clipping 1 wire or adding a $3.99 part and this can also be done before it is shipped by the seller. If you look online for Free Banding Freqs you will see that the FCC has opened up alot of the 10 and 12 meter bands for use buy the average CB user do to these bands no longer being used by liecened operaters. You can try to discredit me all you like but this is my main hobby and I know what I am talking about. I own 7 Ranger RCI radios and there the best money buy under the Main HF rigs like Icom, Kenwood, Yaesu and so on. There is a little thing at the top right of the screen that says Google on most computers. If you try to use this function more effectively you will find out in the end that you maynot sound as intelligent as you actually are!

No sweat my friend. It was just the post with questions already answered. I understand your point and question. My answer was just my opinion and in no way reflects on other peoples opinions. From my years of CB radio and now Ham radio I still use the same radios. Tho there not as well made as the much higher costing main line HF rigs I prefer them. Please understand that in no way was I directing the comment at you. I personally have only ever owned 2 29 cobras. They area great starter radio and also the cheapest way to go. As far as quality, I have stated my opinion.
