AC is charged up on my Detroit in the Western Star. Now when it gets over 85 or so the fan clutch cycles way too often. No heating up of the water temp, it cycles way to much. Anybody got a clue?

    Thanks.

Does this happen only with the AC on?

Yes only with the ac on and only when it gets over 85 or so the fan clutch will cycle way too often.

Your high side pressure running too high will cause this. Check for overcharge of refrigerant, Monitor pressures with gauges at a high idle. Too much pressure in the high side kicks the fan on whether it needs it or not.

Your pressures will vary with ambient temp but generally 30 low, 225 high. Was the refrigerant put into the system the called for amount per specs?

Check the condensor core, sounds like it's separating from the tubes.

clean the condenser, it could be clogged up and not bringing the temp down as needed, causing it to work overtime.

I will go hook up the gauges and determine if the pressure is high. Also will blow out from the engine side. Thanks again!
