Nope, I'm finishing up my last 2 weeks of college before graduating and going back OTR for a while. Then you'll find me between the Port of Baltimore and the midwest, Feralloy included.

How do you like the Volvo?
What are your specs? -
Actually, if you look at the website and how it is fabricated, you will see that it is a 1 piece construction and much stronger than a wood floor and the welds are far superior to those on a steel frame. I'd have no worries about loading a tracked machine on it, heck the main beams are larger than the steel design. Might just have to go get one loaded just to see how it works
-
I watched the video you posted a while back, very interesting stuff! I'm not arguing wood floors versus aluminum or steel outer rails. We throw tracked units on our combo wilsons all the time. My concern is when all the weigh is concentrated out by the rails that it can't distribute that weigh to the main beams as effectively without the gussets attaching the outer rail to the frame rail.
I'm no engineer, I want it work, I'd like to see LP and CP get a few.
It's just my concern for our operation. IDK what you can throw on that flat that would get enough weight outside to test it though.

Just wondering if that was you I was parked next to getting loaded. Im with you on this one on the trailers. I had an older all aluminum flat and broke crossmembers with a 20 ft can weighing 48,000. I had wood underneath to help spread out the load but maybe not enough. After that I bought this steel w/wood deck manac stepdeck and havent had any troubles of the sort but can only put 46,000 on her since its a 53 ft.
Right now I have 2 JD rubber tired backhoe's on it weighing almost 42,000 combined and you can hardly tell. I really like that trailer you got SHC but want to see if it can handle that kinda weight all the time. -
Backhoes are gravy to haul. I love it when you don't have to get on the trailer to secure them. How long did you end up waiting in Dubuque to get loaded?SHC and Mommas_money_maker Thank this.

Just a little over an hour. They were swamped with trucks when i got there at 2:10 pm (local time) but they were a moving and a shaking.
-
That's not too shabby. They've gotten a lot better in the last 6 months. They don't have any temp workers loading now, company policy said they all have to hire them on directly as FT or PT workers. It wasn't uncommon to wait almost 3 hours when there was only 5 trucks in front of you

The nicer weather also helps! In the winter I get the pick sheet from the loader and go out, find, and start all my machines. Helps me get loaded faster too.
Mommas_money_maker Thanks this. -
load i took 400km's into the bush to a logging camp.
