Ive been working with a recruiter. I heard from her a couple of weeks ago when I finished my online classes for the swift academy. She told me I was all set to go to the academy and gave me my date. She then emailed me some specific information on the millington academy. i emailed her back with about 6 questions. I never heard from her again ( i tried to call a couple of times a week, left vm, no call back) then yesterday i get an email asking if Im still "good to go" for the academy, and said she would call me in a few to answer any questions I had. I never heard from her, so several hours later I called her. She answered, and placed me right on hold, then disconnected the call, and didnt answer her phone the rest of the day. I called and left a voicemail both yesterday, and today. Still no answer.
Im getting quite frustrated.. I have some questions I'd like answered, and I will not leave for the academy until I get some answers and am comfortable with everything. Im due to leave for the academy in 2 weeks from today (i start the 21st).
Is this type of behavior normal for a swift recruiter? Should I call and talk to her boss? Or should I just find another company or another school to attend?
Like I said, I am getting QUITE frustrated. Ive been very patient, and I feel like my needs and questions are not being addressed. I know that all of my interaction with the recruiter is really an "interview" process for me, but it goes both ways, and right now I am less than impressed.
is a lack of communication with recruiters normal?

I am in same predicament. Filled out app, got email saying fill paperwork, blah blah blah. I have sent e-mails on several occasions, made phone calls, left messages, NOTHING back from recruiter. I had a couple of questions that can't get answer to. Last communication was I will not proceed til I get my questions answered. Never heard a word.

Amen Patty!

I would go to the top notch person and tell them what the recruiter is doing.
-
Well I know they are usually slammed with 5 million calls and stuff, but that doesnt excuse that kind of treatment to new hires. They are slow at getting back though...If you have a date, wait for them to set up your transportation and that will tell you if things are going to happen or not....

You can call Cindy. She is a recruiter out of the Phx Term. She has always gotten the answer for me. Being the week end you understand nobody will get your call till Monday morning 6am. But her office Vm# is 623-907-7318. Leave her your contact info be professional.
-
And if Cindy can't help you call Kim DeDucca at the Lancaster terminal 972-228-5162. Tell her you were referred by Frank on #309790. As Aflak mentioned, please be professional with the contacts we gave you. Speaking for myself, and probably Aflak, this person was instrumental in getting Swift and I together which turned out to be a great thing and she is also my friend.
Additionally, ask your questions here and I for one will get you accurate answers. If they are of a less public nature, send me a PM if you're more comfortable with that route. Understand I drive a truck for a living and this computer comes on after the truck shuts down, usually after 10+ hours on the road.

thank you guys. I am always professional when dealing with people in a potential new job. Cav... im just gonna copy and post the questions I had in the email I sent the recruiter. I appreciate y'alls time. This is a major career change for me, and a lifestyle change, and Im trying to make sure I know everything I can before I take the plunge.
1. The information about the Millington Academy mentioned that students from certain states will attend 2 weeks of the academy and then complete the final week in a field location. Being a florida student, would I be attending the 2 week or three week program, and if just the 2 week, where is the field location I would complete my final week at?

2. The documentation was slightly confusing in regards to obtaining my actual Class A CDL. It mentioned the fees involved with my license here in florida. Would I be taking the CDL road test in Millington, or would I be taking it after the academy here in florida at the DMV here using a swift truck? If it is taken in Millington, do I pay the fees mentioned to the people at the Millington Academy, or are they paid to the DMV here in Florida?

3. The information mentioned once I am hiring and in my BTW training with a mentor, that the pay is based on actual days driven and averages out to $450.00 a week for my first 4 weeks. Does this mean if I dont drive on a particular day for whatever reason (IE: the mentor doesnt want me to ) do I lose pay for that day?

4. The closing information for the Millington Academy mentioned if I have been unemployed for more than 60 days ( and I have) I needed to bring 2 notarized letters stating why. Do I write these? Who should these be addressed to and is there any specific information that should be included in the letters?

Like I said I appreciate y'all helping me out with this. It wouldn't be improper for me to call a different recruiter once I've been dealing with a specific one to begin with would it?

Screw the recruiters; here ya go. My answers in CAPS:
1. The information about the Millington Academy mentioned that students from certain states will attend 2 weeks of the academy and then complete the final week in a field location. Being a florida student, would I be attending the 2 week or three week program, and if just the 2 week, where is the field location I would complete my final week at?
MILLINGTON FOR TWO WEEKS AND THEN TO FLORIDA WHERE YOU WILL TAKE YOUR DMV ROAD TEST IN A TRUCK AND TRAILER SWIFT SUPPLIES. (POSSIBLE YOU WILL DO ALMOST ALL OF THE THREE WEEKS IN TN AND THEN TRAVEL TO FLORIDA ONLY FOR THE ROAD TEST.) THEY WILL ALSO HAVE A LICENSED SWIFT DRIVER, PROBABLY THE OCALA SAFETY GUY WITH YOU.

ALL OF YOUR DMV FEES ARE PAID TO FLORIDA DIRECTLY AND YOU WILL TAKE YOUR ROAD TEST IN FLORIDA.
3. EVERY DAY WITH YOUR MENTOR, WHETHER YOU DRIVE THAT DAY OR NOT, YOU SEND A "CHECK IN" MACRO 27, TRAINEE SIGN IN. YOU ARE PAID $64.29/DAY ($450.00) FOR THE FIRST FOUR WEEKS THEN $71.43 ($500.00) AFTER THAT. THE REASON IT IS DONE DAILY IS SO YOU GET ACCLIMATED TO USING THE QUALCOMM DAILY BUT ALSO TO ACCOUNT FOR DAYS WHEN YOU MIGHT BE OFF THE TRUCK, E.G. MENTOR'S HOMETIME. REMEMBER YOUR MENTOR TIME IS 240 BTW HOURS REGARDLESS HOW LONG IT TAKES.
4. The closing information for the Millington Academy mentioned if I have been unemployed for more than 60 days ( and I have) I needed to bring 2 notarized letters stating why. "TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:"
PROBABLY BETTER TO HAVE SOMEONE WHO KNOWS YOU SIGN AND GET THE LETTERS NOTARIZED EVEN IF YOU WRITE THEM. THEY WANT TO KNOW YOU WEREN'T IN JAIL OR TOO BUSY DEALING CRACK TO JOB HUNT. ALSO WHY YOU WERE UNEMPLOYED SUCH AS, "THERE ARE NO JOB OPENINGS, STUPID!". THEY NEED TO ADDRESS THE QUESTIONS, WHAT WERE YOU DOING AND ARE YOU A GOOD PERSON.
Hope this helps.
Frankdoored88 Thanks this.
