Seems like the large majority take that awful bus ride. I'm planning on driving myself to SpringMo. Is leaving your car in the Prime lot for a few months really that bad of an idea that people opt for the bus?

My truck wouldnt make it to SpriMo so... Not without getting impounded. Im sure a few states have "emissions" laws that arent quite as relaxed as Bama... And my truck doesnt have a piece of emisions equipment on it, at least that works. And 2 glasspacks. There is a long term parking lot out back.

These days it seems that one way rental cars are more expensive than taking a flight...

Detroit to Branson flight on Airtran (45 miles South of Springfield) 14 day advance on Sunday is $200

Gas alone for the rental car would be around $120

Amtrak-ing to Kansas City seems pretty cheap but I'm not sure how much of an improvement that is to the Greyhound and plus you'd have to figure out how to get to SpringMo from KC.

Amtrak is alot nicer. Clean restrooms, dining car, observation car, sleeper car, alcohol, smoother ride, you can get up and walk around. If i had a long trip i would rather take the train.

I've been taking greyhound since i was 15, first trip was 3 and a half days from la to Cincinnati back when they still did the rural stops with the main thru Texas. I've also done Detroit to la and back a couple times plus a bunch of shorter rides. money was my main issue this time, so figure a free ride beats a kick in the face with a golf shoe.
