Food grade tanks do not have baffles(thermos), many things affect how the load moves inside the tank. Depending on what you are carrying. For reference use a drink bottle put it on it's side. Dip the top and bottom ends and you will understand. It can hit hard enough to move the truck

Yeah. IRT is a food grade hauler. 99.9% of all food grade is smoothe bore, at least all the ones I drove were. The surge is easy to get used to and you will figure out quick how to time your shifts. Concentrate, skim and cream are your worst IMO because it's heavy, and less product in the tank= more surge. Raw milk is 8.6# per gallon, and you can load the tanker #### neer to the collar which is a pretty smoothe ride by tanker standards.
The biggest issue with food grade tankers is the shipper/reciever. Loooong waits, You usually won't touch a thing except for venting the tank lid, unless you have a weigher sampler license, and can catch up on your beauty sleep. Appt times usually don't mean squat unless you're late or unless they need the product asap. Good luck in your endevor and feel free to ask me any questions. Lots of changes in the rules of the road in the seven years I've been gone but I doubt the nature of food grade liquid business has.

We don't have long waits . Most loading or unloading takes less than 2 hours or we get detention time . At one of our terminals all trailers are preloaded and we have a lot of drop and hooks .

Do you mean Indian River or another company?

Another company . Most tank carriers don't wait long .

A friend of mine worked at Indian River and didn't made much money. Sat a lot, No detention, Layover and had to run dbl logs; which other company drivers told him.

I'm guessing that will be Trimac. From what I've heard, a good company to work for, decent pay and bennies but they are sure hell on wheels about safety.
