I've been doing the 6/3 Northeast Regional run since my original inquiry thread here. As a company I like Schneider, from a pay stand-point though, even when running myself ragged, the "real" mileage you can run up-here even when planned right (avoiding the heavy traffic times, etc) at .31 per mile doesn't equate anywhere near the $34-42k the recruiter told me it would. If everything went right, everyday, this means no mid-day dispatches for live loads around NYC, no idiots causing traffic jams, no sitting for six hours awaiting a trailer to be loaded, no waiting for SEM to send out a mobile repair unit for another busted trailer, if you could drive 550 miles a day (50mph per hour = 11 hours dot @ .31 per mile x 245 days per year work), you could earn those round numbers, but it's unrealistic on the 6/3 schedule in the northeast. I enjoy driving, I don't mind the traffic, I don't mind camping in the truck everynight eatting canned beans and bread, but the biggest disappointment is being told earnings that are unrealistic given the conditions. I don't like BS and this is coming from a prior salesperson. If I'm expecting one thing and am seeing something else, even after doing the math like twenty times over, I don't see where in the northeast on a 6/3 schedule how those earnings are possible now that I know the actual miles you can "normally" run per day. Sometimes I get lucky and am sent somewhere away from NYC/Boston area, but not that often. I'll drive the NYC/CT/MA area mid-day with no complaints, just at .31 per mile, I'm getting ripped-off. I do like Schneider though as a company, so do not take this as a bash, it's more a complaint with the recruiters not-so-true earning figures.

    Hey Tree, got a question.

Have you been matched up with the other two drivers yet?
If so , how is the working out?

Finally moving boards to get matched up.

Tree, What kind of mileage are you getting? If you don't mind me asking anyways.

I'm thinking about joining in northeast regional with schneider when I graduate. Just curious what kind of mileage to expect.

LOL I thought my husband was the only one eating canned beans every night. Thank goodness he isn't team driving! :biggrin_25523:

DH says much the same about the 6/3 schedule but I guess it's a trade off. We (your spouse and I) get you home more but with less money.

I thought there were different per-mile pays based on how far the whole trip is? Plus, as a PP said, there should be a raise at 6 months.

I think recruiters, across the board no matter the industry, tend to inflate things like this unfortunately. :biggrin_25513:

As for the kind of mileage I normally get, varies greatly depending upon the load. I've run upto 580 miles in a day when given the right loads but have also only been able to run around 250 miles when given 4 or 5 short runs in a day (lots of drop-n-hook time). It's not all that frequent that I get the really good runs. I did go back for the 3 month evaluation and they sermed impressed, but when you run the 95 corridor alot to those city based factories and warehouses, you figure out to drive better in reverse then forward. As for the other pod members, let me not be so candid, but they are not up to my snuff in the cleanliness department. I spend about two hours cleaning the truck up everytime I aquire it. I've mentioned that I'm ready to get my own truck and run 5 days per week. Sharing wouldn't be a problem if others were cleaner. (Don't like seeing toenail clippings and hairballs all over the truck when picking it up)

    Yeah that's pretty gross.

Don't you get more per mile on short runs though? I'm still trying to figure this all out.

After 3 months you should get 2 cents more a mile if you make your safety bonus. I never heard of a raise after 6 but I know the quarterly bonuses can put you up to 38-40cpm in your first year.

I was a slip seat driver for a while but was tired of people not maintaining the equipment which I loss money because I was the one bringing the truck in. Now I'm 5.5/1.5 with my truck and will never look back.

Same here, I've sat with both trucks in our pod broken down for repair a combined 6 days now. Same goes for trailers and the lack of inspections and reporting by other drivers. I've had but only two Weeks out that were clean of tire or mechanical issues since January. I always try to pay it forward and report any and all defects of a DOT or saftey concern nature. As for a raise based on a clean record and succesful SQT, I have not see so in my pay detail as of yet. Short hauls are suppose, keyword here "suppose", to pay more, but I've gotten the feeling that most if that is reserved for those coming in with experience. I occassionally see a few extra Pennies on the short hauls per mile, but generally the way I'm dispatched I'm always just over the mileage to be paid on a shorthaul or live load or unload. At this point, I was told that I will receive my own truck and schedule change once they can fill my spot on the pod. I'm eagerly awaiting. I was also informed that they'll be assigning me a new DBL since I'm no longer considered a newbie. Hopefully that includes better loads.
