There is a truck parking lot beside a Hardee's here in my town and while in school we stopped there and as we continued doing our daily drives and night driving we noticed this one truck that stayed parked in the same spot and never moved. We all wondered about it but nothing more was said although we saw it everyday.

Well, I've been out of school and rode by that parking lot and that truck is still there in the same spot. It has been almost a month and I wonder if something is wrong or maybe someone just abandoned the truck. It has a reefer and wasn't running when we stopped while in school.

Should I write down the company info and truck/trailer number and give someone a call or mind my own business?:biggrin_2558:

Maybe local and parks in the same spot every day. Call the company and let them know if you think it is a concern.

There is a JBS Carriers company truck (Pete 387) parked on US-69 in Lone Oak, TX gathering dust. I drive through there about every 10 days or so on way to OK/KS to chase. I've seen it there during the week and on weekends, always bobtail, no trailer around and I've seen it in that same spot for now going on about 6 weeks at least (As of a week ago when I saw it last). I would think by now some local PD or sherif has called in on it. But still it sits there. JBS must have one hell of a home-time policy or places no value on their power assets.

I would place a call personally, but you also got to think about owner operators. Mayr they've banked enough money to be able to make the payments and take 2 months off or so. Lots of different things could be in effect. But maybe to be on the safe side and a good samaritan, give a call.

If its in a parking lot, more than likely the driver got permission from the property manager to have his vehicle there for that long. If not, then with law enforcement in my family, I can pretty much promise you it would have been towed by now.

It only takes a minute to call the company, there's a Swift trailer been sitting behind a movie theatre in San Diego which can be seen from the freeway for 2 weeks. I'm sure it's abandoned. Any truck company appreciates info on missing units. ( I can't see the trailer number on this Swift unit to call it in.)

I would call them, and yeah if its an abandoned truck. Somewhere the owner of that truck is losing a lot of money right now.

Let us know what u find out.

This is how missing drivers that died in their sleepers are found. Call it in to the company.

Hey Allow Me just call Swift if you want to and tell them one of their trailers is behind the place and they can send a BT there to check on it. Heck you might get a reward for it! I did the same thing a few years ago and got $100 dollars as they had been looking for it for a while! I also called an O/O on a truck and trailer that was parked under an old fuel island canapy of a closed gas station and he had been looking for that unit for a month. I didn't get a reward from him but it made him all happy to get his truck back!

I remember maybe 20 years ago sitting at Scionicis (ok the old truck stop in CT down from the new Pilot) A driver had parked next to him but 2 days later he saw that the unit was shut off and the ice on his chicken load was leaking out so he climbed up on the side of the cabover and the smell hit him first and when he looked in driver was like half way into the sleeper and dead. He'd been dead at least 3 days from what we heard the corner say when he climbed out of the cab. His wife had been trying to call every truck stop along his route trying to find him with no luck.

If you suspect that there might be a driver in the truck that's been sitting make a call. It will only cost a few minutes on that cell and could help to locate someone.
