HI,
Ive worked as a welder by trade for the last 20 years, was let go after 15 years with the same company..doing some serious thinking of changing directions into the trucking world.i realize i would go otr and thats fine with me.my concern is ive had some some issues with back problems in the past.no surgerys but do have a couple bad disks that act up at times.is there anyone else out there driving with that problem and if so and if so what do you do about it? thank for any advise with this...

All the jarring driving on the roads could make your issues worse. Think i'd go and talk to a DOT doctor and tell him and let him look it over before i made the commitment of driving a truck.

Truck driving ain't for bad backs. Very rough on the spine with long driving sessions, lifting, climbing in/out of trailer etc.

it is possible to get no-touch loads, though that may not happen for you
I suggest trying local / city-delivery / short-haul to get a grasp of what it is like .....
my personal opinion is I would rather screw up a few discs than have the metals in the tissue from metabolically uptake of metal-vapors
the seats are very well suspended usually though after hours of anything we get industrial medicine problems of some kind, maybe run a 12-yard twin-screw dump for awhile as that is really rough & much rougher than OTR seating,....
read the help-wanted ads for any city in a 100 mile radius and take whatever you can find to see what it is actually like as opinions only go so far -
