I swapped a series 60 ddec 4 out for a little older ddec2 and everything works fine besides the cruise and jake. This seems a little backwards but I had the ddec2 sitting there and it's a strong running motor. Could anyone help me figure out why the cruise and jake is not working. I found some info that maybe something is wired different between the 2 but no specifics as to what. Any help would be great. As a piece of info we are using the ddec2 ECM now

do you have DDDL and DDRS?
-
I'm not sure what the dddl or ddrs are please explain what they are and i'll let you know if i do or not. Thanks

it is diagnostic software. I'd check what inputs are used for C/C and every input status. DDEC-III and DDEC-IV share connectors and usually inputs are programed tha same way, DDEC-II is totally different unit, very simple, with EPROM changable memory only, so I sugest there is only one way input pins may be used.
If you have wiring diagram and DVOM, you can check all inputs manually... -

This is DDEC-2 wiring. may be usefullSL3406 Thanks this. -
i had the same thing happen when we swapped a ddec2 for a ddec4 on a t2000 the cruise control was backwards but the jake was fine. I was told it could be something with the cab wiring on the t2000 but it was never a big issue so i sold the truck like that

After hooking up we found out that the jakes do not run through the ECM on this motor but run through the firewall. Thanks for all help

Does anyone know about the jake Brake control module that was used on the ddec2 still trying to figure out where to wire the jake wires to behind the dash. I read something about this module being needed to control the jakes with the petals
-
ddec II had two set ups - one used a relay and the other a control module but both types use wire 508 out of the ecm . If you google jacobs brake there is a complete wiring diagram for ddec II jakes with control module .

the ddec II uses a totally diferent wiring and switch setup for cruise if you need i may be able to dig up the drawing
