Might not be the best bet, but for a new guy, it'd be a good, safe bet. 8)

That is definitely a good point with Nabors, and something that should appeal to new drivers. Their safety stance, may be considered overbearing to some, but out here, it is needed. They really do stand behind you, and empower everyone to stop the job, when it becomes unsafe.

Depending on what you do, you might get sent over to San Angelo for a week of training. The guys running it there, are really cool, and laid back. I had a blast the time I was there.

I say that, meaning Nabors may not be the best suited company to each person, based on their own individual needs, such as pay, housing, schedule etc. For example, they weren't offering a schedule that suited my needs, as I was wanting to get something along the lines of 3 weeks on 1 week off, and as such, wasn't my ideal choice.

I am able to request additional days off work, like I did this weekend, so that I could fly home and visit my family. They are ok with me taking 2 extra days off a month (thus giving me a 4 day weekend), and have been really great to work with, when it comes to family needs. This works for me, but for someone else, they might not be able to handle that.

IMO, they have been a great company to work for, so far, and if things don't work out with them long term, well, I can leave with some experience, and can use that to find something better.

Bring your appetite. You get breakfast at the hotel, the school takes you out for lunch, and while they give you $25 a day for supper, yer usually to stuffed to eat another meal, so just save it, or use it for snacks, smokes etc.

Don't expect too much drive time right away, as you'll be riding shotgun all the time, and learning the job. Once yer driving authority comes in, then you'll get wheel time with a mentor, till they think yer ready to head out on yer own.

BTW, were you the guy that showed up at the yard 2 weeks ago Friday, when we were having our meeting?

ok, JahB, I know what a vacuum is but what is a vacuum truck? Do they clean up spills? I'm new to this area so don't mean to be clueless.

Anybody know what the deal is with Sunoco Logistics? I've had an app in with them forEVER. (OK, three weeks) So do they EVER call back or acknowledge an application? Should I just call the Sour Lake office?
