I just removed the mount to look at the back since my swr was bad, you can just put new coax on the 2009 cascadia, it's just the same plug that goes into the back of the cb, so I am going to try new coax & run a new ground to the frame both sides, I dont care about the radio as I have Sirius.

Will let you know how it peformes, still got to choose a antenna.

Question, are MOST of these problems of reflection due to the height of the cab, in other words are most of these problems on condo's?

Just bought some midroof Cascadia's and was wondering if they will have same problems???

    Thanks

Unrelated. It's the combination of lack of ground plane at mounting location and factory junction box combining cb/stereo

Thanks was thinking that because of where the antenna's mount that it was a problem with them being shorter than the top of the roof.

It can be any combinations of things from poor (traditional on freightliners) to poor and or dirty connections. On my new Cascadia I traced the coax from the cb thru the multicoupler under the dash to the antenna mounts found 2 barrel (inline) connections that were loose, the silicon on the back of the antenna mounts I do not believe to have any negitive effect, but cleaned it off anyway. Cleaned the body to frame and the frame to battery and frame to engine ground connections, also using conductive grease on all ground connections.

    channel 1 is 1.3:1 20 is 1.1:1 and channel 40 is 1.2:1 at 12 watts.

You should try an antenna like this one if you drive a cascadia

How long is the shaft..........I've thought of this before and am going to try it. I get more enjoyment out of setting up stations and chasing problems like the one with the Cascadia, than I do talking or listening to the radio.

The shaft is 4 feet long. Overall length is 81 inches. The tip of my whip is 13'6"---perfectly even with the top of my reefer.

Thanks for the info. I have discussed with Russ doing this very thing. I just to need to get off my butt and get the shaft made.
