So i guess no manufacturer in the us will put an automatic trans behind a 550/1850. Why would they ignore this market?

OK...the M-Drive has a torque limit of 1925 ft. lbs.

Not sure what the rating on most of the manual transmissions are, but the T31321 and T31821 are both rated to 2100 ft lbs.

Now if you spec the truck with the Econodyne version of the MP engine, it will "uprate" by 200 ft lb of torque down around 1300 RPM if you hold the throttle wide open for 3 seconds....helping to avoid having to downshift. I'd rather have that "extra" torque available all of the time, but maybe that's just me? Oh well...it's the "Econodyne"...if you want more, get the Maxicruise or the Maxidyne.

    From the Mack Powertrain brocure:
Looks like 505/1760 is all you are going to get out of the MP8 from the factory. I know the military version of the MP8 used to be (I haven't looked at the specs lately) rated at 525 without any of the aftertreatments (because the last thing you want to do on the battlefield is run out of DEF and have the engine derate or have to regen the DPF...), but unless you know somebody who knows somebody, you aren't likely to be able to get that data file in your highway truck.

I don't see anywhere that Mack claims to uprate the power output of their engines with an auto trans. In fact, the auto trans isn't even rated high enough to be an option in the Titan.

They have the MP10 rated @ 606 hp/2060 ft lbs to fill the needs of the heavy haul segment of the industry.

It might depend on the customer, there is a construction company near me with three titans that haul their large equipment, I know one is an M-drive automatic. I've seen it at several job sites lately. I'll have to ask him what motor it has.

Volvo FH16 rated at 750 hp is I-shift only, and the torque numbers are over 2000ft/lbs.
This is a euro truck, or I should say non-North American.
In Australia the Mack MP10 is set up for a M-drive or a 18sp mack tranny.
So the new auto's aren't limited to low hp or torque set ups.

And yes, autos are only for old wore out lazy truckers.
Can I have my auto in blue please?

    striker and DrtyDiesel Thank this.

    Very true and correct

Yup Volvo 750 produces 2620ft/lbs torque and as far as I know the mack m-drive box is a Volvo I-shift .

Scania 730 hp is also only available in auto! So if anything the manuals are limited to lower horsepower!
