So about 6 months ago i tried applying for pam transport and i was good to go with the company training and everything. i had one problem tho which is that my license expired in april 2011 and i did not renew it for about 8 month because i didnt have a car at the time and wasnt driving. my recruiter called me and asked if i had my license valid for the past 12 months and i told him what happened and he informed me that they cant hire me because i need a valid license for the past 12 months.
My question is that do all OTR companies require you to have a valid license for the last 12 months? ive see that some comapnies ask if you had a valid license for atleast 1 year in the US which i did have a valid license for like 4 years but do all companies require you to have a valid license for the past year? because i only had it renewed for a few months now. thanks guys

That's bull ####. Try another company.

I know people who got their license the day they started school.

That will depend on where you attend school.

If you're going for company paid training. All I can do is advise you to fill out as many apps as possible. There are several all in one sites on the web. Do a quick google.

If you intend to go to a school then apply. Recruiters will show up there, many times.

The school will often help. Might not be the best choices. But a bird in the hand.......

Just a follow up. I didn't mean to come off as .... I dunno.

But so much has changed in the past 4 years. Companies that I know/knew would hire and train you. May have changed policies recently.

This economy and new regulations have had a serious impact on hiring and wages.

Each Company has their own standards.

I had a minor accident 10 months ago. First one in 17 years. Nothing major, red light light rain, hydroplane in to car in front of me... no injuries, no airbags, no other cars involved 5pm rush hour etc. My car had a leak from the radiator so it had no water and no antifreeze by the time the police came and took reports and such, so the car was towed.

Once company turned me down because a car was towed, another didn't care as long as the damages were minor.

Each has their own criteria. Do like Danc said and apply to as many as possible.

Werner wouldn't hire me because I had a 6 month old suspension, even though it had nothing to do with driving.
