log book not looking pretty, getting ready to leave my job unless they structure the work in such a way that it can be completed in 14 hours so i don't end up with a bunch of fines

anybody know if the fines come with points on your licence? if i do get done for a HOS violation will it show up on my up-to-now clean abstract?

edit:work is in alberta, calgary to edmonton return with deliveries/in a daycab

I take it you are running federal HOS? All within alberta they could have run provincial which gives 15 hours a day, 13 driving.

Yes federal then. I've only run provincial and also have a clean abstract so I'll let someone else answer you from experience. Pretty sure it's going to be bad news though.

got a federal log book ticket in manitoba a few years back, and didn't get any points. not sure if it would be the same in alberta though.

Don't hand over your logbook unless you know it is legal, If it's not legal FIX IT!,..You hand over a logbook with infractions and "whoever" is going to do their job and lighten your purse.

Federal NTSC logbook infractions show up as 0 demerit non moving violations.

As mentioned before you should repair it before handing it over and never keep more than 14 days on hand.

If your company doesn't run an electronic log consider going to looseleaf logs as they can more easily be "fudged"

If they are running you over hours on purpose by overloading you with stops consider parking the truck at 14 until they send someone to get you.

Or keep it legal at all times. I learned my lesson. But what about the city drivers doing local work, office yelling to do something get to customers and tlr not ready waiting with no bunk so can't get sleeper time. Dispatch tells you to stay or lose job. Some people can't lose that job.

Then they've made the choice to run illegally. Life is always about choices, and when it comes to driving, there's always another job out there.
